It requires ONE actuation only. The resultant .CR2 file is processed via a program named cr2hdr.exe and produces a DNG file.

thanks for the reply Tron!

That is some pretty amazing technology then. As a stills shooter with a 5DIII it's only getting harder to resist trying ML now.

Hey everyone.

I wanted to ask a newbie question about this new Magic Lantern Developed "DUAL ISO" tech.

Using this setting for stills, does it take more than one exposure and then combine them (like HDR) or does it only require one actuation of the shutter?

Sounds like a camera salesman purging all the crap he has to deal with on a daily basis. (People with a lot more money than sense or photographic ability)

Smell like a Monopoly effect to me. They are just as bad as Quark imo.
It's 2013 FFS, they should offer both options.

I dread that this is the effect of Adobe having a monopoly in the market. I think you should be able to leap-frog releases if your willing to go without or simply don't need the latest version for a while. I believe there should be "online subscription" AND "bought off the shelf you own it for life" versions too.  Adobe have targeted the people who don't upgrade at every single possible release. So disappointing that the bottom line is simple greed.

Great shots florianbieler. You have managed to remove any doubts I had with regards to in IQ in terms of the Tamron 24-70.

Thanks for sharing.

Canon General / Re: What's your definition of "Pro"?
« on: February 10, 2013, 05:53:20 PM »
I feel like a Pro when I'm shopping for lenses and gear and people praise my images. I feel like an amateur though when I discover that as much as people like my images, only a low percentage of these people would ever consider paying real money for one. I also feel like an amateur when my family refers my work to their friends and they seem to assume that my services and time are free.  :-[

As if I didn't already have enough reasons to get an 85mm f/1.2L!

I wonder if a digital medium format camera has been considered by this photographer?

Canon General / Re: Why did you choose Canon?

After owning a Sony Cybershot 505V I really wanted to step up to an optical viewfinder that I experienced during my SLR days. One day I was photographed on my motorbike by a 30D with a 70-200mm f/4L by a very skilled photographer and instantly fell in love with the image quality. So I started my Canon days with a 50D and a 70-200F4L in 2008. Absolutely no regrets whatsoever.

The improvements they have implemented have made the shooting experience even more enjoyable for the photographer. This is something that becomes more apparent after you actually use the camera, not just juxtapose it's "specs" against another. I have found that I've had to redefine what is "usable" in terms of ISO stepping up from a 50D!

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: 5D III - Camera of the year 2012

It sure is a nice time to be a 5DmkIII owner! As much as I don't like seeing the price fall it is inevitable as is the nature of these things. I have got to say that not only am I happy with the IQ that this camera is capable of, it is also a great shooting experience to use one in the hands. I soon forget about the money I paid for it when looking at the shots it has let me take!
