I've used it.  I wish I had a lot more time to post-process photos.

PowerShot / Re: PowerShot SX160 IS & PowerShot SX500 IS

16x is impressive.  It looks like it will fit in a pocket too.  16MP is about right as well.  f/3.5 is slow, f/5.9 is only good for really brightly lit events.  I would have liked to have seen f/2.8.

I worry about the noise and the shutter speed too.  But, it looks like an improvement over previous ones.

The coverage has been just fine.  The time delay is messing them up since the 200m race was on at 10pm EST which was probably 7-12 hours after he actually ran it.

And it helps if you have MSNBC, CNBC, NBCSN, and regular NBC they are showing almost everything.

Were you able to take your DSLR into the event?

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon to announce medium format dslr?

But would the TS-E's work without the adapter?  It would fit into the timeline of them coming out with the new 45mm & 90mm TS-E, doesn't it?

They would need to come out with a new 50mm f/1.2 and 85mm f/1.2 (unless the existing ones can work without a lens adapter.  I think the people interested in buying this camera would be able to afford a new lens to get the best performance possible.

If your batteries are okay, then you have technical problems with your camera.

Send it to a repair shop or CPS to solve the problem.

If that is a technical problem its a shame for Canon. My 350D has more shutter releases as my first 5D mark II and my first 1Ds Mark III together. A year ago I bought a new 5D Mark II and a new 1Ds Mark III because CPS is not able to fix the problems.

We can't blame Canon for this.  This camera is the victim of some serious abuse (hot, cold, 24/7 operation).

I would rather see a high dynamic range, without the HDR time delay of taking multiple exposures.

However, I think Canon should come out with a medium format camera.

I have a 50D camera that is about 3 years old that we abuse pretty good.  But recently it takes photos at 1/400 or 1/800th yet they are very washed out.   (Good photos and bad photos have the same EXIF data)  If you listen to the shutter it doesn't sound like the normal click.

Now, we are using a power supply for this camera, and I'm hoping that it is still getting enough power.  And if I unplug it and then plug it back in, it will act normally for a few photos.  I could try it on battery power.  And I'm using a center weighted average, so I think it should be able to get the exposure right in Av mode.

Do you guys have any guesses as to what it is or something I could try?

Do they have the 17mm TS-e?  I need to practice a lot more with mine to speed up the process, but it did work on my last trip very well.

Wouldn't the 135mm f/1.4 be a white lens?  It would have to be big enough, but would be a cool lens to have if you were a fashion photographer.   ;D

It is kind of weird that it goes from 85mm f/1.2 to 135mm f/2 and increases 3 steps.

I don't have a use for it, but I could see a 135mm f/1.8 L IS selling very well.

Will they put a battery life monitor on this one?

I would like a built-in wireless receiver also.  And make it work with the 580 EXII.  :)

Lenses / Re: Canon at the London Summer Olympics
« on: August 01, 2012, 10:47:08 AM »
Also probably has a lot to do with space, Swimming's fairly popular so they cram as many in as they can, they have more trouble selling Gymnastics tickets so there's more room to stretch the legs and put a hood on...

Gymnastics tickets are some of the hardest tickets to get.

And The Olympics is another one of those times where as a non-professional I would like to bring in my DSLR with 300mm f/4 lens, but I would worry about the restrictions on DSLRs at the venues.

And the decision to have the Olympic flame not accessible or visible by the public is a problem.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Canon EOS M System Announced

It has potential, and as a backup camera it would still work.   Does it shoot RAW?  I'm waiting to see if the update the G line to compete with this.  I still have my initial reservations.

I do wish that the sensor was protected from dust somehow.

The big issue with me is how does this compare with the G1X or the next G camera?  As a tourist who wants to take good photos, I like that I could use my existing lenses with this camera.  But, I have been to quite a few events where non-professionals couldn't bring in cameras with detectable lenses.  Would the extra quality of some photos, override the inability to bring in this camera to other events?  I'm leaning towards no.

I will still bring my 5Dm2 on my travels anyways.

It looks like what I would have expected.  I like the look, and wish the G1X would be similar. (no viewfinder, thinner, but with a little flash)

I also wonder why the lens glass isn't bigger to let in more light...  I don't care about weight, but size and speed are two big ones.
