EOS Bodies / Re: Your Canon EOS-1D X user tips

Has anyone tried to configure the automatic ONE SHOT to AI SERVO switching functionality in any of the allowed buttons? According to page 339 of the manual, if you are in One-Shot AF mode and you press the configured button the camera switches to AI Servo and you dont have to hold down the button. It seems it only works if you keep holding the button...

I am very happy with Intersys, I have bought a lot of my gear from them. I have just updated my signature with my lenses (I have 24 1.4 II, 50 1.2, 85 1.2, 8-14 4L, 16-35, 24-70, 70-200 II).  I am covered I think.

Hello everybody, I have taken my new 1D X for a ride, starting from Parthenon... Very impressed so far, with AF speed, dynamic range, ergonomics. I will keep enjoying it in more demanding applications...

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Is this a good time to buy 1D X?

Hi guys, I have the option to buy tomorrow the 1D X, serial number starting with 05.... I am not a professional, just a very enthusiastic amateur (I currently own the 5D II, plus 6 zoom and prime lenses).  I have read about the err80 issue, and another one with the servo focusing over 10 fps. Do you think that both of these problems are firmware related, or hardware? I live in Greece, and it's probably impossible to have exchanged if is found faulty. Theoretically, I can wait to buy a bit later, but of course it's very difficult to wait... What would you advise? Warm thanks.

Thank you for the reply and the serial number idea. The one I will be getting is 05xxxxxxxx21. I guess, although I have not read about any serious problem, I am just worried about getting one from a very early batch. It looks fine though. Tomorrow is the big day!!!  :)

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Help with 1D X serial number
« on: July 31, 2012, 04:33:37 AM »
I have just received a call by my dealer, and informed me that he has just received his first 1D X (I am based in Europe) and my name is the first on his list! I am super excited about it, but before i get it tomorrow I would like to double check that it is one of the most recently produced bodies. I have the 12 digit serial number. Can I draw a conclusion by this? Warm thanks for your help!
