Yes, very disappointed with the release price. I was planning the FF jump and was OK with the 3K price. However at 3.5 I cannot buy one without the feel Canon are just trying to capitalise on the market share the Mark II gave them.

The Mark3 looks amazing just too rich for my blood ATM-guess Canon will also miss out on the three lenses I was planning to buy.

Very timely.

I have been using the 'coloured box method'. I have some neat (4xAA or 4xAAA) plastic holders that clip together - I have red and green colours to separate out changed and non-chargered batteries--they can from DealExtreme (http://www.dealextreme.com/p/4-x-aa-battery-case-holder-3-pack-3558).

While this is a good system it does mean that I need to carry two holders for each set of batts. Last night I saw this old post on DIY photography--it uses a sticker system to carry changed and non-charged in the same holder.

Anyone heard of 'anchor pricing' - the idea is to establish the idea of a price in someone's head (whether they can afford it or not). Then discount it. People think the vendor is doing them a huge favour. If I were Canon, I would be seeding these rumours into the market in just the way we have seen today, and everyone is "ooh, can I afford it, ouch", etc. Then announce it next week at say $3000 or $3200, and everyone thinks - "wow what a bargain!". Maybe they are right, and it is a bargain. But for me, just like with eBay purchases, the only thing that matters is 'is it worth it' not how much it has been discounted or what the exchange rate is...

I agree with BillyBean's anchor pricing comment.

Everyone here seems to want a 5D replacement but there are the "$3500 is OK" and the "my max. is $3000" camps. Imagine how many will 'pull the trigger' if the final RRP is closer to $3300? -- esp. if Canon announce: weather sealing, clean HDMI and user-selectable AA filter ;-)

Based on this line from the DPReview (http://www.dpreview.com/articles/5149972341/canon-eos-1d-x-overview):

'Not many people need a 21MP file to begin with, so they're going to love the IQ of this camera and the quality's good enough that those people who do need those huge files will find the images clean enough to use them.'

...I think you could see the 1DX sensor in the 5D3

Exactly! I would assume they use the same plug so it looks like you can have wireless OR GPS but not both at the same time!

For networking, it looks like a LAN port with the option of wireless (with on-board bluetooth) and GPS adapters.

wellfedCanuck, I am right with you! A camera is an optical AND electronic device. If you can fit in an electronic level there's plenty of room for GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, .... Why can't I use a wireless display (pc, phone or dedicated panel)?.

I think you are 100%--if a good feature can be in a P&S it should be in a dSLR. There's very little additional R&D. In fact, dSLR sales have already contributed to P&S R&D so why can't dSLRs benefit from these developments?

If there is something coming, I would have thought Canon marketing would try to spice things up a bit--c'mon, Canon, that's what makes rumour following a sport!

Yes, d d photographics is good (so far I have only bought my G9 there).

In Adelaide, I second the Camera House in the central market--they are very knowledgeable and honest.
