They have been saying for 2 years now that they are going to be making a 50mm Cine T1.2 and 135mm Cine T1.5 but every year they then say not this time around and bring out more wide lenses.

8mm, 14mm, 16mm, 24mm, 35mm,  What next 21mm, 25mm and a 28mm Cine lens?

It would be good if they can cover all ends of the Cine lens spectrum.

Give us a 50mm T2.1, 100mm T2.1, 135mm T2.1, and even a 50mm T2.1 Macro. So that we can cover all focal lengths without needing to resort to purchasing a complete Zeiss Cine Lens set.

The Hi4 ISO level is not really much more than a gimmick at this stage in the game.
What next? ISO 1Million?

Neither will mean bugger all if they don't have super clean iso above say 1600-3200

But if nothing else we can rest assure that this camera will get a perfect DXOMark score no matter how poorly it performs in real life usage. ???

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS Rebel SL1/Kiss X7 in White

See, that's what I don't get . . . I think it looks fine; I wouldn't mind a 5Dmk3 in that color . . . maybe even prefer it (as long as it's the same build quality)

I have to agree. I actually don't mind the colour. If they released a 5D3 and maybe the 24-70 f4 kit in white i would buy it.

Sure its going to get dirty but then again black cameras don't tend to stay "out of the box" black for very long either.

I actually don't think it's that bad - perhaps because I had  low expectations? Although the small size and white color kind of makes it look like a toy.

Could you imagine the outcry if Canon decided to go white with all of its range (from 100D to 1DX) and updating ALL their lenses to white to match?

This forum would implode.  ;D

Unless, 7D II has super battery - I just don't see 12fps. It will be slower than 1D X. 10fps is fast enough for outdoor sports camera

Unless it was in a 1DX style body. Using the same LP-E4N battery too.
So basically a 1DX just changed from a FF to a APS-C Sensor.

I would normally just tell people to just use this handy Moon Exposure calculator.

Does the trick and is pretty accurate, after some practice you get to learn what works and what doesn't and so wont use it as much but its good for starting out.

A quick pic taken handheld, using a 60D and an old 55-250 Kit lens i had access too at the time.

Not the greatest shot but it was a spur of the moment thing.

The quote is a mixed Biblical/Vietnam Era passage, the US Grunts frequently wrote it on their Helmet Covers, we Aussies didn't use Helmets so we Tattooed it on our foreheads.

Its funny because its true :)

As for the BR straps, as others have said if someone was getting that close to your back with a Stanley knife (or Box Cutter if your American) i would be worried about losing my kidneys, let alone my camera.

I'm also looking at a BR strap, but am confused by statements on their website. I want to keep my Induro Arca Swiss plates mounted to my camera/lenses, so I can pop them off the BR strap and attach them to my ballhead at a moments notice, but it says the FastenR Tripod (FR-T1) will only work with the Manfrotto RC2 Quick Release Plate. From your description, quoted above, I'm unclear as to what you found that works. Thanks.

What you will find is that as long as the plate is similar thickness.

The screws are similar that mount on the underside. The FR-T1 will be the exact same thing but possibly better build than the cheap knock offs you can buy from ebay.

And speaking of copies i found this for $15AUD on eBay. Not sure if i would trust it to hold 1 let alone 2 cameras compared to my RS4 but if you wanted to check out and see it it suited your needs without paying for a decent strap i guess it couldn't hurt..

No issues with mobile safari on iOS6 but noticing some issues when loading with mobile safari on iOS7b1, but just ruled that down to being a beta OS for now.

That sounds like a proxy caching error with your provider.
Does it happen when your connected to other networks and look at CR?

I've had issues on iOS 6 on my iPad 3 and MBP with 10.8.4

Only with this site.

Lenses / Re: Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8L Non-IS Discontinued?
« on: June 13, 2013, 11:15:48 PM »
This could just be the case of Canon deciding to clean up its lineup, in a way.

As much as people don't like the idea IS is something that by the sounds of it Canon believe that you need in your lenses. (if market demand increases prices may fall for the IS models, so the price issues may be lessened)

Not everyone uses the AF in their camera but every DSLR body has some form of AF because the majority want it and a few don't know how to shoot without it. Doesn't mean that its for everyone, but if you don't want it you can always toggle that switch to turn it off.

It could explain why they are trying to put IS into all their lenses that are being updated. Yes i know the 24-70 f2.8 II doesn't have IS but it may receive an update sooner rather than later.

If I didn't know better I would be blaming Apple OS

Yes, yes you are right, Ive heard that Apple OS is the leading contributor to the spread of AIDS in Africa and it kills a kitten for every i Device you purchase in sacrifice to the almighty Jobs.

In other words you obviously "didn't know better".

WAIT A MINUTE!!!!! How did we get from censorship to Squirrels???
Blame the guy from Australia...as everyone knows, Australia is entirely peopled with criminals, and criminals are used to having people not trust them, as you are not trusted by me, so I can clearly not choose the squirrel in front of you.

You can always tell when a thread is done.
Usually its just after someone calls someone else Hitler or quotes The Princess Bride :)

I can also see this being appealing to video shooters like myself too. Where the fact that the lens is f4 doesnt really matter when shooting interviews with a swaying subject, more likely you are sitting at f8 anyhow to not have to continually pull focus.

Sure the loss of the 105 end will be missed, but when you have a lens case full of cine primes and just need to shoot that handheld shot from within a car at 35mm the IS in this lens would be handy, also the macro for face and eye ECU.

As for people that are complaining that they will lose too much as a "walk around lens", take a look at your pictures you have taken. What was the main focal length you shot at? and if you are walking cant you just take a step or two forward? (i understand not always possible)

Im also waiting for Canon to announce something like a "twin lens kit" with this and the 70-200 f4 IS bundled with a 6D for the advanced hobbyist (or first timer with more money than skill).

Please note: the new EOS-1D C feature upgrade is only available from Canon’s authorised service facilities in Europe

And that is because they don't want the firmware being generally available for folks such as ML to examine, learn from and maybe modify.

It also makes me wonder that if there were such firmware, would it load into and update the 1DX and turn the 1DX into a 1DC?

I wonder if this firmware update will leak into the public domain...

We can only hope.

EOS Bodies / Re: Digitalrev speculates on D7100 vs. 7D2
« on: May 28, 2013, 09:32:09 PM »
Im still of the opinion that they should just take the 1DX and stick a crop sensor in there instead of a Full Frame and then sell that as a 7D2.

Then what will they complain about? it's too big?

It can be the pinnacle of Crop cameras and at the same time could mean the xxD range actually could get some relevance again, its currently a small jump from Rebel/SL1 to xxD and then a large jump to the current 7D in terms of specs, even given its age.

Hopefully Canon go all out this time.
