EOS Bodies / Re: Announcement Soon [CR3]

Hope they annoucement will bring smth which let me stay with canon. Otherwise i will go back to my trusty old friend nikon. I really keep my fingers crossed for good af, better built quality, slighty better iso and better dynamic range. A lot of expectations to meet, i know but i wait a long time to see what both companies finally bring. I was not happy with 5d2 but have invested already a lot in lenses, so for me the annoucment will be almost a a decision maker, hope the first reviews will come asap.

Hi Hadam,

I am also from Poland. My suggestion is to send the lens to Germany (or perhaps I think u should visit service in personal). Polish service is poor as hell. They rarely take care about customers.

According to lens u right- I even own 70-200 II IS (by the way-is nikon 70-200 worse??). You are also right about 1.2 lens, but i mentioned that in my post. What about cameras and flash system? Maybe Canon was, let my say "1st in FF cameras" but talking about past is nonsense at the present. I cant say about 1series as i didn't own one, only 5d2. But why only 1series have good ergonomics. Look at ergonomics in Nikon-even lower class cameras, look at quality, ISO,AF, and dynamic range ie. d7000, thay care about product. Trust me i would do a lot to stay in Canon and be happy with the company, but I just can't convience myself that would be good decision in any terms.A year ago I searched for studio camera, with rather hight pixel count and ISO 100. I could not afford Nikon D3x so i ve decided to go with 5dII and 6 lens. Now i have a better choice. D800 with iso 100, high mpix and xsynx 2 1/250 (by the way-my 5dII was sync. good at 1/125). Also d800 is probably very good for weddings, having it's AF in mind. It's hard to decide now what to do, but my heart as well as my brain says loudly-sell your gear even still on warranty and go with Nikon. Does anyone has good arguments for me to stay with Canon? Anything?, even in 1Dx?. Will 5dIII be better in any terms that D800??? If, yes i would be positively surprised...but reality is different in my opinion.

Canon do not care about me, as a customer. I need to wait to long for the new product which for me is 5dmarkIII. To be honest I do not think that they will do enything worth staying with them. Despite the fact i am heavy invested in Canon's gear, now i am considering switching back to nikon with it d800 and great AF and many many other benefits. I originally came from Nikon D300, to Canon's team, but i am really dissapointed with the gear. In my opinion Canon does not move forward, they make everything to let us think they make a huge steps, but thats only marketing., thats only few paid photographers who push good opinions in the web. I will lost a lot selling my Canon gear, but i really think thay its not worth staying with them. It's strange i know but-Canon is a step behing Nikon, they just dont have good ideas, they dont think in revolutionary way, they only slightly rebuild old products, the dont satisfy thier costumers, imho they just look at Nikon product and want to have something similar, but worse...why not...well...people  will not sell their gear and switch to Nikon.hmmm i probably will . I am preaty sure thet 5d3 which is really awaited by many people will be so close to old one, that we will be badly suprised. Thats how i think about canon. Nikon always gives something extra in terms of value and imaging, something new, revolutionary and better, Canon just follow their ideas in let me say-unprofessional way. Give me one example of Canon product which was revolutionary (Camera-no, Lens-maybe (f1.2), Speedlight-NO!, ISO-NO, AF-NO NO NO!,dynamic range-NO!!!! etc etc,) look at Nikon to compare (D3, D3s, D3x, D800, Flashes, D7000) comment. Unfortunately I regret buying Canon at the moment. Few days ago a spoke with person who owns a camera service, and his opinion about Canon built quality was so bad, i could not belive. To proof he showed me a lot of in camera mechanisms of canon and nikon. After that i was really suprised. Only canon 1series are built nice. 5d and lower models are just toys in comparison to all Nikon models. I know it all sounds strange cause i am Canon owner, but I am trying to be honest with me and other people.

I bought a canon equipment several months ago, also 24-70, wchich in my opinion is pretty sharp, probably a good sample. Also have almost unused 70-200 is ii, to be honest i am totally frustrated having in mind switching back to nikon. Think that nikon with its d800 will be miles ahead of next 5d. No idea what to do at the moment. Sell everything with loss and buy nikon?....hmmm. I am almost sure that we will not see nothing impresssive in next 5d, another crappy af and poor dynamic range, probably same poor plastic built quality, iso100 noiseetc. On the other hand i will lost a lot of money but i think as well as several other guys that canon stoped its development. They just do not offer things which are standards in competition.

I switched from D300 to 5dII half year ago. SO...

-turn off Nikon's AF small lamp which supports achieving focus in low light and u will have smth similar to canon 5d2 AF.
-AF is not good to be honest in 5d2 (crap in low light)-it just cannot achieve focus even in center point (in LOW light).
-Image quality and resolution is far more better in 5d2. Quality is superb in my opinion with good lens of course. Cropping abilty due to resolution-WOW!
- ergonomics is far more better in Nikon, i have still problems using canon, it's not so intuitive as Nikon
-exposure meter is very good in Nikon, S___ty in Canon in my opinion or my 5d2 is a problem (sent it to service but they stated everything regarding built-in light metter is ok)- i have underexposed images in 5d2.
- so...after a while working in studio with canon I looked at nikon photos...OMG...where are those details I thought! I don' like most things in Canon, but on the other side I have to admit that quality of photos is really outstanding and not comparable to Nikon D300
-one more thing-Nikon has a lot of parameters u can set to fit your needs. Canon has very poor menu, u just cannot customize it in similar way to Nikon. It's limited in that area. For me, taking photos with Nikon was"easy"- good AF, good exposure meter, fast, reliable, has good built quality-i miss a lot of those things in Canon BUT...if u look at IQ from 5d2 it's hard to go back to Nikon's 12 MP. I don't know how far u go with post processing but there are also differences in that area. Maybe i was used to Nikon NEFs but i prefer them to procces, I am under the impression that I could achieve more from dark NEFs then from dark CR2s but, after getting some experience things might change. Another thing regards studio shooting-X-sync in Nikon is 1/250 which works in studio, Canon x sync is 1/200 but my 5d2 works with studio strobes only up to 1/125.
Canon is more "risky" when taking photos let me say and sometimes it leads me to frustration, but final result could be better than with Nikon. Nikon is camera which can be trusted but final results (IQ) is good or very good but not outstanding as from 5d2! Hmmm...having and using Nikon is like being married for 10 years with nice wife, using Canon is like having a sexy lover from time to time :)
Hope it will help a little bit.

going beyond 30 is crazy i think, however without AA filter it could work well, to be honest-I dont know, but a couple years ago I own a Nikon D70 with very low AA filter and only 6MP-it provided really sharp photos which could be then resized and interpolated to bigger files. It works well in that area.Canon policy is strange, going over 20Mb in 1d and 5d2 and know stepping back..think they should now focus on other image quality factors like noise, dynamic range etc but laving mb factor constant at early chosen level ie, 21 mb. It looks like correcting mistakes of the past and no longterm policy of research at all.

I am really disappointed, I am under the impression that the Canon new policy is only cost driven with huge support of marketing and shareholder pressure-no passion in that activity. But of course they state that that's a revolution, even if it's kind of little step back in my opinion. If 1dx would be a d3s competitor it will be acceptable and OK for me's a "camera for every purpose" which translates for me as a camera without purpose and no specialisation. Sports, wedding and studiohmmm...strange like car which is aimed to win a professional race and provide great comfort on family trip, it's not possible. I recently switched to canon from nikon  and today i think I made bad decision. Bigger single sensors-it seems for me it makes photos less sharp-I prefer a nikon strategy with no aa filter in d800.  21 mb in 5d2 and 18 in 1dx  also for studio purpose- does not work for me. In general the idea of connecting 1ds and 1d is stupid and only cost driven, probably based on huge losses made by tragic event in production facilities (earthquakes and floods). Where is revolution-in 12 FPS? It's only speeding up processors and memory, no revolution in sensor itself. It's PR and child of marketing camera. Canon has just cut its R&D figures I think.

EOS Bodies / Re: BUY 5d MkII now or WAIT for 5d MkIII????
« on: June 14, 2011, 10:42:10 AM »
I just had the same problem as probably a lot of us now,buy now or wait ? I have decided to buy now a 5dii, and other canon stuff, cause I switched from Nikon. In worst case scenario i will have a second body when a new 5D III is released, hawever I honestly dont belive it will happen before 2012.

Guys, I really dont understand the problem with avilabilty of current model, I live and buy in Poland and have no problems to get the camera in 2 days. Anyway, now i become a canon shooter, so let me say Hi to all of you. Hope i can live with AF, and the image quality will compensate that lack.
