DXO has released their impressions of the Canon EOS 6D pretty quickly. The camera receives a sensor score 82, which is on part with most of the Canon lineup.

“The EOS 6D offers a well-balanced performance across all three testing metrics, doing enough to put it into 10th place overall on the sensor rankings. Given the price, this does offer very good value for money, matched only by the Nikon D600. It suggests that this new market segment could be a real hotbed of key models for the major manufacturers and is therefore one to watch carefully.”

I just got my hands on an EOS 6D today, so I’m not yet a good person to ask as to whether or not the camera is a winner. I do like the size and weight, I’m all about trimming weight wherever I can in my kit. Give me a week or so, then you can start asking me your questions.

To be honest.. I really don't like and I Don't believe in this DXO mark website..
They have been paid by Nikon to update and posts all this fake numbers.. bunch of BS!

No need to take it personal, it is not a bad camera, just because the Nikons are, sensor wise, better pixel by pixel. At least on low ISO. However, the 6D (and other Canons) are the better ones at higher ISO. No big news! The DXO tests does not say which camera is better, just how the sensors perform.

Is it just me or does the 6D sensor slightly outperform the 5D3 sensor in dynamic range and is on par in everything else? Maybe Canon started moving and can improve their sensor performance after all.

My 2cents:
Besides lacking of AF points, chassis is on smaller size, slower fps....I do think this is a good entry level FF camera for those looking for better ISO and clearner images. It fits well for landscape/portrait shooters.

I chuckled when I realized that you included a parody site in your URLs.  Like you, I don't really use DXOMark in my camera shopping / comparisons since their ratings are... odd... but it was still funny.

Nice to see that the 6D has a better DR score than the much more expensive 5D3 and 1Dx. Weakest point of the 6D is its AF system. But then again, people could shoot sports back in the days when cameras were manual focus only. Makes me wonder if we have become noobs because we need a great AF system (e.g. 5D3) to shoot sports nowadays...

yes they  can but it cost, they can shorten the analog signal way, more readout points/ADC .

They could surely get rid of the adjustable preamplifier and improve noise/DR performance at low ISO. High ISO would suffer but that doesn't matter in the studio.

I am fed up of all this people that say DXOmark results are fake, normally these tend to be Canon trolls.

Do yourself a favour; go to dpreview and download the raws from D600, D800, 5D mkIII and 6D (if available)

Then you can process those files yourself as I did and you will se the huge difference in DR, specially at base ISO

here http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8038/7905600204_90e8ededef_o.jpg you can see 100% crops of 6 cameras at iso 100 scaled to 25mpx (so they all have same size)

first row shows the original 100% crops and the second row shows  same area with +4EV exposure

In my opinion the ranking would be:
1º C  D800 2º A Pentax K5  3º F Sony NEX-5N 4º D Canon 5D mkIII 5º E 5D mkII 6º B Canon 60D

This test only shows DR at base ISO, and it proves DXOmark is right

By the way, I own a EOS 5DmkII and before that an EOS 5D, EOS 40D and EOS 1000D.
My second body now is an APS-C Sony NEX 5N as Canon APS-C sensors are a big piece of noisy crap

The problem is not "faked ratings" by DXO. The problem is Canon's old sensor tech. I have used both the D800 and the 5D3. The DR and post processing abilities with the D800 RAW-files are nothing but amazing!

The 5D3, not so much. 

The 6D might be a tad better than the 5D3, but it is still far from good enough if you consider what Nikon (the main competitor) has.

However, I still believe that Canon will catch up.. Some day..

I am fed up of all this people that say DXOmark results are fake, normally these tend to be Canon trolls.

There are a very, very tiny number of people who claim the DxOMark data are fake, and they are marginal and obvious trolls.  But there is a rather large group of people who understand that DxOMark's Sensor Scores (note: Scores, not measurements) are not a good measure of overall sensor performance, and are not universally applicable to all shooting situations.  Some people care about things other than DR at base ISO.

I am fed up with all the people who think the only thing inside that magnesium alloy or polycarbonate shell is a CMOS image sensor, and that DxOMark Scores are the sole determinant of camera performance.   Normally those tend to be Nikon trolls.
