New DSLR @ CeBit?
« on: February 10, 2013, 05:38:05 PM »
I asked Canon Germany at facebook if some new products will come out at the coming events. They said they´ll update the website. They updatet quickly but for CeBit there is no more information about what is going to be showed. Do you think a new camera is announced?

Imho very unlikely, CeBit is a non-consumer computer expo, Canon will show printers and the like and reserve dlsrs or lenses for more photo oriented events.

They did show Pole Dancing robots last year, but the photography industry ignored it.  CBIT is rapidly going down in stature.

"Even camera and camcorder companies that have supported CeBit with huge budgets, such as Canon, Panasonic and Sony, have ditched CeBit in favour of announcements of new model lineups during the MWC. "

CBIT is rapidly going down in stature.

Not an entirely new development - when I lived near Hannover 20 years ago I used to visit CeBit the whole week, but about 10 years ago it went downhill because the IT industry at last became too large and too consumer-oriented to be concentrated in one expo. And with the advent of the Internet you can get all the information you want in a second anyway, so there is less need to visit an expo just out of interest.

Thank you for your replies. Last year threre were made some announcements that have nothing to do with computers. So I think it´s possible to see something new from Canon.
