Achieved a specific tone
« on: July 05, 2013, 10:31:52 PM »
Good day,

I am a photographer but also a web designer (and often use one service to get the other one :-))

so my customer asked me to develop this web page

http://demo3.squigglemedia.net/
admin: demo
pass: demo

My question is on how to achieve this kind of look
http://demo3.squigglemedia.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/7.jpg

As my customer would like for me to convert my image (taken by me) and get it to this
http://demo3.squigglemedia.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/13.jpg

Now I am not lying, I have asked the other photographer, and he told me that he just lifted the blacks..blah blah blah...just did not want to share and i respect that.  He then told me, if you deconstruct my image and get to that well I won't mind.

So this is why I seek your help!!!
thank you

I would play with the WB setting, recovery / fill light / blacks, clarity / vibrance / saturation to get a similar feeling from the shot. After that HSL comes in handy - all the small errors can be fixed there.

Does look like an HDR Lightroom Pre-set

It's of no value but I actually prefer your image, perhaps I'd try and de-saturate the background though, it's a bit too strong for me.

Thx gents for the replies.  Indeed I will try to desaturate the background and see what it gives
