Not a bad price on the 17-55.
Are these permanent drops?

Looks like it is not just at B&H. But at the same time Canon did a massive price increase!

Does this blow the theory of replacements due on the 10-22 & 17-55 ?

Canon giveth and Canon taketh away:

70-200 F4 IS -- $200 increase
70-300 L -- $200 increase
85 1.2 L -- $300  increase
17-40 L -- $100 increase
50 1.2 L -- $180 increase

Really surprised by the 70-200 F4 increase. I thought it was overpriced before.

Looks like there are others as well: the fisheye zoom, 100-400 L, 135 and 200 L primes.

Probably. I mean, I guess they could be clearing stock for them...but, has Canon really introduced anything new from the EF-S line lately? Maybe if they want to make the 17-55 have STM? But can't see the 10-22 getting an update because it won't be using STM

Hmm, Canon raising prices ahead of rebate season - never seen that one before...

Also, for those who were about to buy - a lot of times retailers are slow to re-price.  I picked up my 70-200 f/2.8 IS II a week or so after the rebates ended this spring - Amazon hadn't raised their prices yet, but a few days later they followed everyone else.

I'm glad to see the 35mm f/2 IS at that price.  That is getting down to a more reasonable level for it and might help it sell more copies as it creates some separation in price from the Sigma 1.4

Just wondering aloud about some of the price increases .... Canon only has so many manufacturing lines and we are well aware of the problems they have had making lenses lately.  Maybe Canon needed to take a few lenses off the production schedule to allow for other lenses (like the EF 800 II coming).  This would create a potential shortage on the lenses not being produced (guessing the 70-200 f/4 L IS) so they crunched the numbers and found that these price increases should slow purchase rates on the affected lenses enough to avoid retailers going OOS until the lenses can be made again.

These are only guesses.  Canon may be working on new manufacturing locations as we speak to alleviate having to make these production run switches. Retooling a production line is costly and takes some time.

I guess it is a good thing I decided to squeeze at least another year out of my EF-S gear. It would have sucked if I had to sell my 10-22 and 17-55 right now!
Never sarcastic, just misinterpreted sometimes.

surprised at the 70-200 f/4 IS and especially 70-300L increases, the latter doesn't even include the tripod ring

but the prices one those EF-S zooms are good and for the nice new FF primes too

oh good grief damn the 24mm TSE II now $2200 even at B&H, it was $1999 just at the end of August! Dang I almost picked one up a tax free day locally but the night before they raised it to $2200 so I was like forget that but damn now it's bad everywhere. Just some months ago it was even to be had for $1900 even $1850, maybe even $1800 last fall so man $350-400 ($200 overnight) increase on an already pricey specialized lens, well once again won't be going for this one any time soon (maybe not before going Nikon after the 5D4 also has the same old DR....)

Dang Canon raising all the prices the night before select Canon stores went to a tax-free weekend.
And now I'm sure they will keep them up to also protect against the upcoming rebates.

Bummer, it's a great lens!  I paid $1810 for mine in October, 2010 which was during a $130 rebate.  But the last couple of rebates have been $250 and $200, respectively, so it's probable that it'll drop below $2K with the fall/winter rebates.
