Some BIF shots.

All 600mm f/8, most are heavily cropped.

here are a couple of 100% crops of the 450mm and 600mm

Forgive me for asking, but is it just me or is there a substantial IQ loss between those two images? The 600mm seems very soft.

Thanks for sharing and enjoy the xiao long bao while you are in Shanghai!

it is, I think there is a bit of camera shake in the 600mm image as i was trying to hang out of the 12th storey window as much as possible with the camera and lens and was not using a strap
this is the reason i posted the crops not sure how much is due to the lens and how much of the loss is due to the operator :P
all the BIF shots i posted before are 600mm too but dont seem as soft so i think its more operator than lens

Thanks. Be careful hanging out of those windows, especially when holding a camera and no strap! We don't want any flyingwombats!  :D

BH Photo is still listing this as a pre-order, and it isn't even on Amazon (it always sends me to the -500mm). Where did you guys buy yours, and how long did you wait? I'm ready to pull the trigger.

Also, what size quick release plates are you using?

Thanks!
