For most visitors, Crete is beaches, sun, blue water and tavernas. But a few kilometers from the coast, you´ll find quite impressive mountains. This is from a crossing on the western side of the island.

Beautiful shots Eldar, though it seem compression is hurting the images.

Thanks. They do look a lot better in full resolution. It is actually a bit unfair to show these images, without the ability to post full size. I am very impressed with this camera so far.

Don't forget all the beautiful maidens on the beach Eldar, perfect for testing the qualities of a 5Ds.

Come to think of it, I´m actually quite good at sneaking up on birds ...  ::)

I did not bring a macro lens on this trip, so I shot this black bumble bee with the 70-200 f2.8L IS II (mfd=1.2m and this was a bit more). Not much of a macro, but because of all the resolution I have available, I could crop a lot and still get a decent image. No post processing, except lifted shadows, since the bumble bee was totally black out of camera.

Amazing detail, I know that macro gives more isolation, but now no need to be close to danguaras bugs.

Here´s a Swallowtail (Papilio machaon) on final approach. It is just covering the sun, so the light was quite interesting and I´m fairly happy with the timing.

Shot with the 70-200 f2.8L IS II @200mm, 1/200s, f8.0, ISO500 (cropped quite a bit)

i loved 5d3 for the ability to see in the dark with the liveview, great to compose image and focus on the stars at night, for milky way shots, nightscapes...what about the liveview of 5ds/R? With the limitation of iso range i wonder if we can do the same..........and i would love to see a comparaison between a 1dx and 5ds shot, if someone have both :p

That's a very nice image Eldar with the Sun providing an opportune backlight, well caught.

I'm still playing with mine (the 5DsR I mean), bought the MP360 Hub for the CamRanger so practising using the camera remote for my next trip to Sth Africa in August, trying for those close up images of Leopards while sitting behind a bush 50 metres away, my Son's Cat is the current model.
