Just a quick idea

If canon released this "high MP body" Then in bulb mode it could have a way to type in the amount of time the shutter stays open, instead of using manual triggers?
For example being able to type in 2:30 for your exposure instead of being limited at 30secs, it doesn't have to be exposed for, but just to avoid manual cables and things.
Could this ever be a possibility, or is there something technical thats been overlooked for why it hasn't been done yet?

I'm sure its possible, they likely try to estimate how many users will need a feature before they add it.

But its hardly a large amount of R&D, it would be so simple to implement, I really don't get why they haven't yet O.o

Install magic lantern, problem solved.

You are right, there are a infinite number of simple to add features, and a almost infinite number of people who think features should be done differently.  Canon has a group of pro photographers who help decide which features are most useful, we might not agree with the results, so some have started petitions to gather signatures requesting a feature.
