As I wrote on the other thread: I've already got a 5DIII. Why would I need a 6D?

I actually think it's a fair price for a reasonable camera. Sure, it's "meh," but it's in the middle of the product lineup. Could Canon make a camera with everything everybody's bitching the 6D doesn't have? Of course -- and they did! It's called the 5DIII, and it's priced accordingly....

Deal breaker for me:

- 7D or better AF.  (Not necessarily only 19 points but enough cross-types to cover same FOV for FF)
- CF card (sure I'll take an SD in addition)
-  joystick (5D/7D button layout)
- 100% VF

All I'm asking for is those additional specs above, and I'd pay up to $2500.   

I really think there is a market for a body between the 5D3 and this 6D but I don't see it happening since Canon decided to call it a 6D instead of xxD.  If the 6D fails then maybe Canon will offer a 6DII with adequate specs but I doubt it since Canon seems to be responding to what Nikon does as oppose to responding to their customers.


Major disappointment, got money saved up to spend on gear but right now I don't feel like giving Canon any money--no I'm not jumping ship.

The only thing I really miss is the swivel screen, but I'll probably buy it anyway, if its low-light high-ISO performance is as good as that of the 5D3. For my intended use, it would actually be better than the 5D3: I won't be using AF at all, it is smaller and lighter than 5D3, and I do have use for both GPS and WiFi (I did buy WFT-E5 for my 7D, after all).

But the high-ISO performance is the key. I will wait for test results, and if it turns out to be noticeably worse than 5D3 in that respect, I'll spring for the 5D3.

Rebels and the 60D all have the swivel screen so it would have made a lot of sense to add that.
Sure that would mean more R&D for a new body, but why not just use the 60D body since I'm sure they have plenty left over from the pathetic sales of that (what other reason is there for the 50D to still sell for more than a 60D?).
Would have given this a great differentiation among all other upper level cameras, and would appeal greatly to the videographers, and of course as a rebel upgrade you wouldn't actually be missing out either.

And of course, the AF is sad, and all the other meh points just put me off, but I could live with 1/180 sync, non full VF coverage and it's other limitations... ah well, could've should've and didn't. Just waitin for the Mk3 to price drop ~

Same time as the crApple fanb0is stop buying their yearly incremental upgrades. 

7D AF & tweaked 5D2 sensor are too obvious for Canon, they had to bend over backwards to make yet another FF & AF sensor. 

There's only one "feature" that Canon can add that would make more people buy the 6D: MSRP at $1499.

I don't see Apple holding out on spec, HW-wise at least. It's just their design goal and constraints trade-off. I guess they have much less to worry about as they really only have 1 model.

Canon on the other hand here is clearly holding out... Not even the Joystick?? And the AF is an insult here. Aside from the wireless connectivity, which I'm sure all camera will soon have (or see smart phones eat into every camera category), D600 is better in every other way. Canon is really becoming a disgrace...

+1.  at current specs + $1499, I'd buy it in a flash.  The others can buy 5D3 if they want better specs.  What I want is a cheaper FF at current 6D specs.

Sorry Canon! I have a 25 years history with Canon EOS, but as thing look today, my current EOS may very well be my last. I did buy my 650 in '87 because I expected the best, and I think I got it. But what can I expect today? Higher price and less functionality than Nikon? And IQ?

Well, I may change my mind the day 6D IQ show up to be the best on any DSLR today. And just forget that AF does not even match 650D.
