I own a 600D and what prevented me to go for 5DMk2 was the lack of built in flash.
Failed again!  :(
So for a hobby user, not sure the 6D is versatile enough without flash for fill in.
I don't understand why Canon think flash is only for dummies  :'(
May be I underestimate the low light capability of FF.
Concerning AF, this does not upset me as future test will tell how it performs. I believe it will be on par. We can't expect 5D3 performance here.

very interesting poll. clearly the primitive AF system makes it a non starter for most.

Totally agree.

Another feature I would consider is it being available just as fast as the Nikon D600 is. My local shop already has them in stock.
1DX - 5DMK3 - 6D - 15mm Sigma fisheye - 24-70 2.8L VII - 50 1.2L - 85 1.2L - 100 2.8L - 135 2.0L - 600 ex-rt (4), pocket wizards, etc, etc, etc.....

Sorry Canon! I have a 25 years history with Canon EOS, but as thing look today, my current EOS may very well be my last. I did buy my 650 in '87 because I expected the best, and I think I got it. But what can I expect today? Higher price and less functionality than Nikon? And IQ?

Well, I may change my mind the day 6D IQ show up to be the best on any DSLR today. And just forget that AF does not even match 650D.

same here.
in private i was always a canon user.
my father was a canon guy, my uncles are all canon guys.

if i had to buy a DSLR today... i would buy nikon... sad as it is.

For me all it needs is at least an AF system with all 11 points being cross type or a 7D type AF system.

Dual CF/SD card slots would be brilliant, but I could live without it.

This is the exact camera I was hoping for, everything is pretty much perfect, it would be the perfect upgrade from my 60D. But the stupid AF system has put me off it so much. I may as well just save money and get a 5D Mark II.

So. how exactly will you be better off with a 5D MkII (apart from the fact it's cheaper)? Or is that a typo and yoy mean 5D MkIII?

He'd get pretty much the same camera, same sensor, and be about $400 better off?
Too much gear, too little space.

A camera's low light performance is not a subitute for good lighting.

that´s something i never cared much about.
it´s my least concern with the 6D.

i never used the popup flash.
only usefull thing (for me) would be as trigger for other flashes.

ok you could do some fill flash with it.
but to be honest whenever possible i have a speedlight with me (at least one).

but of course i see the usefulness for people who are not such strobists like me. :)

Honestly RX100's built-in swiveling flash makes DSLR's pop-up flashes look extremely stupid and primitive.

It could also make DSLR's pop-up flashes look extremely clever because you'll want a "real" flash sooner or later :->

I have no cares in the world for any other feature other than a matured AF system - that's really what it comes down to IMHO.
It don't need to be as fancy as the 7D, but at least make 3 or 4 out of the 11 af points sensitive to 2.8 in both horizontal and vertical.

Is that too much to ask?     :'(

Yes, say that to Canon :)

When I first saw the EOS-M I really wondered how a portable camera could lack a built-in flash. Then I saw they were selling it in kit with the (AMAAAZING) EX90 and I understood.

I reckon that having a swiveling built-in flash would destroy the market of these toy flashguns. Again, so sad.

Again, so sad.

I'd expect a commercial enterprise to want to make money - so I'm ok with a little flash (or maybe even none) if I can add a real flash later on. Unfortunately, Canon will grant us no such option to upgrade the af module in the 6d to have cross-points. But maybe we can buy a firmware upgrade later on that enables 1/200 x-sync and 1/8000 shutter - it's certainly no hardware limitation...

No one expect companies to make no profits, but when they cut on essential and well-established features just to make you pay for the relative accessory, then to me it sounds a lot like a spite or an attempt to milk me like a cow.

See EOS-M's lack of flash, when every 100$ compact camera has one.

See Canon's refusal to put the 3 years old 7D's AF system into a brand new 2100$ FF camera.

See Canon's new, ridiculously-priced line of Speedlites.

This is the sort of things I'm talking about, because they are only arrogant and insulting.
