Today I was out in hunt for Black-belied Plover. Didn't happen!
Just took some shots of Butterflies and a Dragon (in my frustration I was going to dump all here but changed my mind in the last moment: not to hurt the feelings of the dragonfly guys ).
Happy to find the American Painted Lady on other location (second one for Oahu - at least according of what I have seen). Excluding the "inclusiveness" here is the most good-looking specimen (out of 4-5), all others were very weathered... End of the season?
1. Long-tailed Blue (Lampides boeticus)
2. American Painted Lady (Vanessa virginiensis) x 2.
Very similar from first glance to the cosmopolitan Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui) but the underwings are solving the problem immediately!
3. Western Pygmy Blue (Brephidium exilis)
