Lol how much do you think vintage Ms are going for? You can get an M3 in wonderful condition for under $1500.
I don't talk about everybody's M3, the real thing are e.g. original black paint M3's from the first production batch. Here's an example for such a collector's wet dream:

IF this isn't one of those "converted" Leicas. I heard there is a growing no. of fakes of such rare Leicas offered on the web, including rare military Leica models.

No interest in this one. I would be interested however, if a true retro SLR style would garner any enthusiasm from anyone other than me. The specs:
No video, stills only. Small body, AE1 size. Auto-focus to use R lenses (and EF adapter), Mode switch for color/mono. Rugged body (less plastic?). Bright
viewfinder and not too heavy.
You mean an R5 without video capability ?

Judging by the success of Nikon's retro ZF, I can see Canon going down this route rather than the 'Leica purist' route. In other words, a modern 24MP mirrorless with video, the latest AF modes and a flippy selfie screen all wrapped up in a retro style body with shutter and ISO dials and maybe a few new film like picture styles. I believe a camera like that would sell more than a stripped down SLR 'purist' type. A purist camera would likely have much less appeal and would, like Leica, likely end up being very costly and sold in limited numbers.

I hate retro. There's a reason we move on to the modern "ugly" ergonomic superior designs.

Those who love retro usually use the camera as props to shoot Instagram/tiktok.

Fuji X100VI is raising over 2500 USD-equivalent in Hong Kong... Seriously with this price might as well buy a Leica.
I feel the same about purists who, to this day, claim film is superior to digital. And then they scan their images to post on Instagram, thank you.

Not sure I’d call two chains/stores in one country representative. Per BCN (aggregating about half the stores in Japan), the Zf was #30 in Feb, up from #91 in January.

On Amazon US, it’s #58 in MILCs (for comparison, the R5 is #4, the R8 is #5 and there are several other FF MILCs from Sony and Nikon that are well above the Zf on the list).

Not sure those are consistent with ‘successful’.

If you find a Leica for $2500, please order 50 for me!
The M11 (naked body) is around $9000.

These are cameras I wouldn't even think of buying from Ebay. All black paint M1 to M4 sell at astronomical prices.
Without a real expertise from a renowned vintage Leica specialist, it would be safer to buy the Eiffel Tower or London Bridge on the run...;)
PS: (sightly off topic) : A few years ago, somebody tried to sell Napoleon's infant skull. I'm afraid he succeeded.

DPReview was not impressed with its ‘Operation and handling’ either (link to review):
”We're a little less convinced when it comes to the camera's handling. Even compared with the cameras it's modeled on, the Zf can become uncomfortable to hold after a while, and we found it hard to shake the perception that Nikon's engineers hadn't really thought-through the full implications of having dedicated dials when they copied over most behaviors from their other cameras.”

If Canon is releasing this then I hope they are working on their color character. The Canon color signature has been quite dull (but probably technically accurate) lately. One of the main reasons the Fujifilm is selling so well in the retro-department is its glorious film simulations and flexibility to alter the look in camera. If Canon just releases a retro-style camera with the regular boring picture profiles then count me out.

The oversaturated, hyper-punchy, and "film" looks can be achieved easily in post; on the other hand, you may find some great tutorials (as the one linked below) to explain how to create beautiful Canon Picture Styles, using Canon software, that can be easily uploaded to use in camera. You can even download pre-made Fujii styles for the green skies, etc. Or you can demand out-of-the-box-options. Choice is good!

EDIT: Here's one more link for quick and easy "film styles":

Do you mean with the SOOC JPEGs or when using RAW? And if using RAW, which converter are you using?
