Here are a couple of images of the EOS R1 and EOS R5 Mark II

Canon Rumors
1 Min Read

The accidental leaks were inevitable and we came about a couple of images of the both the EOS R1 and the EOS R5 Mark II with the active cooling grip.

I am only posting the EOS R1 rear, as we haven’t seen that yet, and the EOS R5 Mark II with the active cooling grip. We don’t have long to wait to see everything.

I will note that the EOS R5 Mark II does have 8K60P, contrary to reports from elsewhere.

We were off a bit on the launch prices, the EOS R5 Mark II is higher than $3999, and the EOS R1 is lower than the $6499 that we reported.

  1. So relieved! Since we hadn’t seen the R1 back, I was terrified that Canon would drop the rate button. They didn’t. YAY! Now I can preorder it.

I use the rate button plenty :)

I was looking at 2 info buttons and was wondering if you can re-map them separately. That would be nice feature imho.

I'm still wondering what's the small window in the bottom corner. Looks similar to selfie cameras on phones but I can't imagine why they would place one of those at that spot. Also the proximity sensor is usually by the viewfinder. I guess we'll learn that mystery tomorrow.

And happy to hear it'll be less than $6500. Not sure if I'll preorder immediately, but quite likely I'll buy one in near future.

LOL. I thought you were serious until I saw the little note at the end of the comment.
  4. Unless I'm missing something, the image of the R5 II seems to eliminate any thought that there would be a 90° adjustable EVF. Or maybe I misinterpreted a previous rumor. It would be a bigger deal for me if the rear LCD flipped up without having to flip it out. I'm not holding out much hope for that either.
  5. No new sexy grip for the r5? :(
The grip design seems off and looks cheap.

This is specifically for cooling and ethernet -- notice it doesn't have a vertical shutter button. There will likely be a normal vertical grip as well.

--- I am guessing that window looks more like a fibre-optic network connector than an actual window. It's very hard to tell what it is when I do a pixel peep. It might also be a proximity detector to figure out where and how close your face is to the back of the camera which MIGHT be used to allow the screens to display ONLY relevant information in the viewfinder or orient the rear screen to rotate and fit data correctly when in the body is held in a vertical grip mode or a wide grip mode.
  7. Glad to hear that the R5 Mk2 does 8K60 in video.
    GREAT NEWS!

I wonder if uncropped full sensor readout oversampled 4K120p will also be possible. Oversampled 4K60p (4KHQ) is already possible with the R5C so maybe the R5 II will go beyond that and enable 4KHQ with 120fps for beautifully detailed 4K slow-mo shots!

Hopefully WITH sound and in C-Log2!

Agree completely about the flippy screen. Sony was able to incorporate both styles in their A7R V. I wish Canon would have done the same. Flip out LCD screens are ridiculous for photographers (in most circumstances).
  9. It seems like pricing is something that is often determined at the last minute. I never count on price rumors being correct because of this. That said, getting up into the 4s may well eliminate any GAS that I might be feeling, if for no other reason than I\'m tired of being price gouged every time I turn around. We\'ll see. Maybe the increase will be justified—though not by the Yen, which is weak as hell right now.

    Yes please!
  11. What i want from R5ii to include is some of the video features the R5c has like waveform or false color and AF in all modes. 8k60 and 4K120 Is a given. I want full AF in those modes and exposure tools for video . I’m sure Canon will give it to me. They hear my prayers

I doubt it. Even the c400 doesn’t have oversamples 4K 120. To me the only thing important is no overheating in 4k60 HQ up to at least 1 hour of shooting without the grip and the most important thing for video c-log2
And I hope the battery life stays at least the same as the one in R5

I am honestly not looking forward to the YouTube chatter about the cooling grip. I think Canon's gonna get ripped for it - "Sony and Nikon don't need a cooling grip!"

Yes they do. They just don't make one.
