There will be a ton of announcements tonight. I have conflicting reports of what to expect tonight, but I'll post the stuff from the best sources.

SX20 (no news on an sx2)

SLR's [CR2]
I'm told if an SLR is announced tonight, it would be a new Rebel. The 60D/7D is being held until the first week in September.
There is also a conflicting report that the 1D Mark IV will be announced in September and we can expect the new Rebel and 60D tonight.
Sorry I can't be more specific!
Lenses
A new macro is on the way for sure. It will be stabilized. It may be held over until the SLR announcements.

I have migrated Canon Rumors to the 4th server in 12 days or so. Everything will work great from now on. I have thrown hundreds of dollars at the issues and we have found a winner!

Oy Vey, this is killing me: I’m in University and have decided to take a second degree in Film and Media. I was really, really hoping I’d have a 60D in my hands when fall practical assignments start up at the end of September/behining of October. Come ON 60D!
Can you give us a [CR2] for the rebel tonight rumor and a [CR1] for the 60D tonight rumor? Or is it the other way around?

I think the 2000D/T1 is meant and not a 550D. The 550D will definetely come mid- oder end-2010.
not sure what creates the most excitement right now… T-shirt or a new prosumer SLR… really it’s hard to tell.

I’d say signs point to nothing more than a T1 tonight…a low end Rebel, and a bunch of P&S.
I think Canon wants to hold their better stuff until early Sept to step all over Sony’s announcement in late Aug.
However, I think Canon should get the 60D/7D model out tonight; in this market the sooner the public awareness of a product gets out the better.
I bet Nikon sells a few more D300s models simply because it’s already been announced and will start shipping soon.
Pretty please, with sugar on top? That one used to work when I was a kid :). I do hope they announce the 60D along with a new Rebel. Save the 1D for its own release.

Oh, I would be so happy if the 60D specs would be something like this:

1080p@24fps (maybe 720p@60fps, too) with full manual control
SDHC
3″ 920k oder even better
an ey-control-feature would be great, but it isn’t necessary. I don’t need WLAN either, but GPS would be cool. But 1080p with a good framerate and full manual control is the most important point for me.
If they do that it will cost them dearly as loyal customers…

I don’t think Canon will disappoint when they do announce the 60D. I agree that the 1D mk4 deserves its own event…so one more reason to announce the 60D tonight.
However I don’t know that Canon will see it the same way.
Hope that Canon does it right…the D300s looks awfully nice. I’ve been waiting to upgrade from my Digital Rebel/300D and am really hoping to stay with Canon.

Canon needs to learn how to ‘leak’ info. Internet is so powerful for generating hyped up interest.

Haha, as if there’s not enough hype already! Canon is no doubt producing MORE hype because they’re so tight lipped. Look at us, up in the middle of the night hitting F5. IF there was a CR[3] a week ago about the 60D, I’d be in bed right now!
Oh yeah, me too… But it’s 5:18am here in Berlin and after watching more than 15 episodes of Two and a half men, I’m still up waiting for a news about the 60D. Hey, wow, the sky is becoming greater, in 3 episodes I won’t need a lamb anymore =)

I also want a new macro (sold my old one) so that’s good, but what I’m really waiting for is the 70-200 II.

Why wait till Sept 1st I wonder. Just so the Sept 1st announcements won’t be overshadowed by P&S announcements? P&S buyers generally don’t follow Canon rumours and announcements (GX series aside).

Yep the XXD series would really benefit from a AF update. Put the current 1DIII AF in the XXD then update the 1DIV with even better AF. That would be pretty good (I’d even buy a 60D if they did.
Chances are a camera like that would be called the 7D I guess. ;)
