More time with the EOS 6D When I brought the EOS 6D to Costa Rica as my only camera body, I honestly didn’t think I’d like the camera all that much. I’ve had the luxury of using some great cameras like the EOS-1D X and EOS 5D Mark III. However, after a little over a week with it, I must say that I’m very impressed. The Good (So far) The image quality is top notch, I find colour rendition and dynamic range to be terrific. Build quality, the camera doesn’t feel cheap. The ergonomics are  better than I thought they’d…

The myth! The EOS 3D gets another mention over at Northlight, this time in the form of a 50+mp camera body that will appear in late 2013 or early 2014. While I am pretty sure we’ll see such a camera eventually, I’m not sure when it will materialize. Canon seems to be taking their time with a big megapixel camera, here’s hoping it’s because they want to get it right. I also think Canon is getting the “popular” lenses upgraded first to help get the most out of the upcoming big sensors. Source: [NL] cr

From Canon France Canon France has begun teasing us about a new product. They have titled the teaser “Creativity with a twist”. With the graphic they also say (Translated): “Soon, we will share information that will change the way you look at the world…” By the image below, it looks like they’re talking about small camcorders. Or maybe they’re going to take another run at a TX1 type of product. I notice the missing camcorder and missing ping pong ball, what does it all mean? I’m sure whatever it is, we’ll see it for CES in just over a week.…

Not just the EOS-1D C There have been a few mentions of a new Cinema EOS DSLR body being announced in 2013. It would take on a smaller form factor than the EOS-1D C and would not shoot 4K video. It wasn’t mentioned which DSLR it would be built around, but I think an APS-C Cinema EOS based around the upcoming EOS 7D replacement would be a good place to start. The EOS-1D C has yet to reach the retail chain at the time of writing this, but it’s said to be arriving “very soon”. From a new source, so…

Camera Lens 18-70 f/2.8-6 A patent has shown up for a lens that is an 18-70 f/2.8-6. It looks like the lens could possibly be for a fixed lens APS-C camera. The PowerShot G1X, while a cool enough camera, didn’t catch on. Canon may not be done exploring a large sensor fixed lens camera. Personally, I’d be more into a Sony RX1 style camera for a few dollars less. As a side note, the G1X was announced last year for CES, and that’s coming up in January. Read the full patent cr

From Untitled Film Works Check out some of the work being done using the Canon EOS 1D C, the motion image results are pretty astonishing. The art of motion image “The art and skill of a photographer is still required when using a camera like the 1DC. Understanding and harnessing of light, composition and interaction with your subjects are all vital skills of a photographer and are not replaced by the idea of motion image capture. Photographers also use a variety of techniques to obtain unique looking images (like long exposure times and the use of remote flashes) these times…
