“I was checking up on some of the entries again and they changed the S90 IS information to be a SD980 IS, it kept the same model of 3635B001 and UPC of 013803116076, it even has the same SKU. The only thing that changed was the brief description to SD980 IS and the in stock date to 11-08-2009 as well as the price to $599.99. I am not sure really what they are up to and am sorry for any confusion. I just figured I would keep you up to date on what I find. If I were to do any sort of interpreting it seems they are entering place holders in the system where the UPC, Model and SKU appear to be the same.”
The email was from the same person.

The IXUS980 is not the same as a SD980, they IXUS numbers do not follow the SD numbers

Actually an SD980 IS makes sense. Check Canon Powershot page at http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ProductCatIndexAct&fcategoryid=113
You will see the 980 IS is still not there but it is a logical sequence number on top of the “new” SD models on display.
Price is a little expensive indeed. Stock date 11-08-2009 is in American format meaning 8 Nov 09? Or is it really 11 Aug 09?

Same thought here – they will annonce some new powershot models and some new mid or starter dslr. Maybe a 1d refresh, but nothing earth-shaking. Also probably a 60d with video. No aps-c compact and no 60d with pro af. If g11 has CMOS it will be the 1/1.7″ version – like the small cmos sensor in the SX1.
So you are fresh out of cash then? ;Þ

even once the new item is announced its going to take quite a bit of time to produce enough to get them on the selfs… but then again with such a late release maybe they’re producing them pre-release, doubt that though
