Canon Canada To Raise Prices On Cameras & Lenses Soon

Canon USA will be raising prices by 7-8% on all Canon cameras and lenses as soon as April 21, 2025. If it doesn’t happen that day, it will happen before the end of April.

Canon Canada will also be raising prices in the near future. It’s reported that the price increases that are coming are not related to US tariffs and have been planned for quite some time. It could possibly be because of the Canadian dollar performance against the Yen over the last 6-12 months and there is a level of currency correction in pricing.

Canon Canada pricing is sometimes better than it is in the USA, but we expect that pricing will be on par, and maybe a few percentage points higher after currency exchange.

We have also heard that price increases are on the table at Canon UK and Canon Europe, though that hasn’t been confirmed at the time of writing this.

  1. The USA was a hub for word wide logistics in camera gear across at least a generation.

This is subject to be changed in these days pushed by stunning tariffs of the day from 10 to 145%

So yes, it is liberation day around the world, just not the NYC based wholesale.
  2. Is "Tarring and feathering" also some kind of decorative technique for applying a coating? Like gilding?

Even though I was the first to bring it up, I think, it is a terrible idea, to reintroduce this type of punishment - in any country of the world.
Like other terrible things that were reintroduced lately...
  4. Canon USA currently has 'instant savings' on several lenses and bodies (among others, $200 off multiple L lenses, $300 off the R5II, $1K off the R3). Those are slated to expire on 20-April.
  5. If China restricts export of rare earth elements and certain magnetic materials, we will have other and more serious problems.
That's something they'll keep as the last ace up their sleeve.
But I really wonder why Mr. T. seems to like to exaggerate his own hand.

"China has suspended exports of a wide range of critical minerals and magnets, threatening to choke off supplies of components central to automakers, aerospace manufacturers, semiconductor companies and military contractors around the world." -NYTimes

Perhaps you remember some of his "strange" Moves? Peace-Deal with Ukraine, declaring Canada as State Nb. 51, great interest in Greenland. Everything had to do with rare elements. The second biggest deposit of rare elements after the deposit in the "Bayan Obo Mining District" in inner Mongolia is Kvanefjeld in Greenland and the mayor shareholder of the company who owns the rights to explore it is a chinese company.

Unless they sell more of them in Europe... :devilish:
