6ave (99.7% approval) has some amazing deals on the aging, but still capable 50.6mp Canon EOS 5DS and Canon EOS 5DS R.

This deal is likely for a grey market product and a Canon warranty isn’t guaranteed, but in our experience, you should be covered.

  1. Just curious...if you do get some kind of 'grey market' camera, like these might be....
I know there will be likely NO warranty work done...of course...

But, if you have a problem and send the camera in to Canon, will they still fix it for a fee?
Or will they just not touch it at all?

    TIA,

Canon Canada has always fixed mine for a fee.

I have had grey market items repaired under warranty in Canada, I've heard of others experiencing the same in the USA. Out of warranty, Canon will fix anything that they have parts for.
  4. I've had work done on my 5D3 and 5D4 by CanonUSA and both were grey units. CanonUSA is not like Nikon, which I heard requires a receipt from an authorized vendor before they would touch it (a friend's D800).
  5. Bait and switch ? I guess !

I don't see how they could get away with that on eBay. Both eBay and PayPal (if you use PayPal) would protect you and refund your money. And the damage from just a handful of 'bait-n-switch' negative scores would destroy them. There are other gray market importers on eBay who would gladly eat their lunch.

At worse I think a gray market importer could 'bait-n-switch' the battery and charger. But at the price you're paying you could throw those in the trash and buy a dozen Canon chargers/batteries.
  6. I've bought several pieces of grey Canon items, including those from 6th Ave, and I haven't had any issues. The only thing I noted was with the 5D4, which came with a different plug interface for the charger. The reseller included a cable that interfaced with the US outlet.
  7. Link says Import, comes with one year seller warranty similar to manufacturer warranty. Packaging says comes in kit box with lens removed. I personally don't buy gray market (and am happy with my two 5D4's), but at this price it is tempting indeed.
