Canon Cinema EOS C50 To Replace EOS R5 C

Switching? People rarely switch systems. Canon doesn't care about switching. Canon owns the majority of camera market share by a very wide margin and that margin is growing. This simply eats into another Sony segment. In total camera sales Canon is the big dog on the block and it aint even close. Canon doesn't care about if don't switch. All the new young users especially those that barf at Sony's outrageous prices are using Canon and even Panasonic cameras.

I barf at Canon's lens prices

You can find better images out there, where it’s clear that this is a prime VCM lens, and you can see that the word “Lens” is printed on the side rather than on the front, unlike the four already-released prime VCM lenses (RF 20mm f/1.4 VCM, RF 24mm f/1.4 VCM, RF 35mm f/1.4 VCM, and RF 50mm f/1.4 VCM). There’s also a visible “8” in the spot where the focal length appears on those other lenses. This strongly suggests it’s the upcoming RF 85mm f/1.4 VCM, featuring a 67mm filter thread and a striking front element that fills the entire lens face.

There are 3 times as many comments on this rumored cinema camera than for the R6 Mark III. As a hybrid shooter I'm more interested in the R6 III but I guess a new camera model is getting people excited.

In what way? Will this have ND filtering, XLR inputs, Phantom power for the mics that need it, Audio control knobs, way longer run time through BP-A-batteries, bigger screen? Probably not – so in some ways, I'd say yes.
This will most definitely not have the DGO sensor. Which still gives the C70 an edge for some people. The picture is beautiful and very easy to light and grade. That is worth something.
I also think this camera will have worse battery life, no standard xls and phantom power, and most probably no ND.

So, instead of addressing the shortcomings of the R5C that I own,
they decided to trade a few better specs for even more shortcomings.
No EVF = not my camera.
Yeah, it seems weird - doesn’t feel like an R5C replacement to me. If it has the compact R50V type body, it sounds more like something in the (hypothetical) R6V type category. I love the EVF. If it doesn’t have it, it should take a removable one.

So it's not based on the EOS R5 Mark II sensor. What if previous rumor was a misunderstanding and it is actually based on the future EOS R7 Mark II sensor?
That would make it an APS-C camera (Maybe Super-35 video). I think the name "Cinema EOS C50" would maybe make more sense that way? Well, just a thought. We will soon know :)
