The Canon EOS R7 Mark II Isn’t Coming Until 2026

The R6iii really reminds me of the EOS 30D. The 20D was a revolution in terms of resolution, AF and sheer versatility. It's replacement was the EOS 30D and was utterly forgetable in terms of upgade and new features.
I suspect that the R7iii is a major step forwards for the 7 series....and as such the R6iii's innovation and developement has been pulled back a lot to let the R5ii and R7ii shine.

How likely is it that Canon will introduce a video version, an APS-C/Super-35 version of the C50 to replace the C70, simultaneously with the R7-2? Or am I dreaming again?
That APS-C "video" 50 level camera has already been released. It's called the R50v.
The C70 was updated/replaced with the C80. Slot for video would be lower at the 100 entry level. R100v maybe.

There will be an APS-C C50 sort of camera at some point next year.
I highly doubt that Canon would immediately step on it's R50v APS-C just released in March of this year with another in 2026. The C50 is Canon's cinema line camera, just being shipped in December. So I highly doubt that they would step on that cinema camera with an APS-C "cinema" one. Deleniating it's Cinema line with Video.

The video centric Powershot V1 was also just released also along with the R50v. The R50v already wears the badge of video APS-C at the 50 level. It would have to be a lower R100v level. Entry level and less option than the 50v level.

I own an R50V and it's pretty good. I'm thinking of something a bit upmarket from there, an R7V perhaps, to compete with the Sony FX30.

I'd say Q1 of 2026 is a little ambitious on Canon's end, don't see this being announced until Q4 of 2026 at best.

Based on what? None of the rumored R72 specs seem that difficult for Canon to accomplish. The OG R7 is long in the tooth. I sold my earlier this year because I couldn’t put up with either the rolling shutter or loud shutter. Then there is the noise. If the R7 2 isn’t announced until Q4 then it’s unlikely to ship before Q1. That’s way too late. It needs to be announced 1Q and shipping by 2Q 2026 or I suspect a lot of people like me willing to pay $2-2.5K for a crop sensor body are going to move on. I’m happy with my R52. The R72 is just a bonus.

Just a hunch, as they'll likely have to catch up on orders for the R6iii, C50v, and the slate of lenses soon to be announced. If the 300-600 is one such lens it's going to be a hot commodity itself.

I'm expecting a fairly big backlog of products needing to be moved. I hope my hunch is wrong and would expect to see first confirmed specs in January or February if a Q1 announcement for the R7 holds serve.
