Anyone get R6 Mark3 in USA

I got mine an hour ago.
Does Canada count? :)

The CRIPPLE hammer has struck right away.
First thing to setup is camera to phone transfer.

NOT permitted without the new P battery. I have at least 10 variants of the older battery, which seem to power the camera just fine but not the wifi transfer feature.

Not sure yet if two of the last gen batteries in a battery grip would be enough to power it, will play around with that later, but I really like the R6 2 stripped down, I do not want to add the grip to that setup.

My adaptor ring came so I’m out with the old and in with the new. Nothing like skipping a decade or 2 for upgrading. I can’t wait. My wife has me in the kitchen for tomorrow so I don’t know if I’m going to even get to playing with it tonight.

I do worry about water with the mic on the top and these two other small "holes". Not that I considered my 6v2 or R5 as waterproof by any means, but any holes on the top plate are a worry.

Great skiing. My roommate was from Connecticut so we used to bounce inbetween states to ski. It’s beautiful.

We used to come into Canada to drink cause of the drinking age. lol and at that time our USA money got us more cheaper. Lol

Another irritant, it does not give remaining capacity on older batteries. Only with the new P battery.
It was flashing red during some tests and when put in the R5, it still had 48%.

So I need a new spare for the mk 3 and the older spares are for the R5, plus carrying a spare for the R3.
3 types of batteries in my bag.

At least the new P series batteries are the same price as the older series.

Cripple hammer? It came with the correct battery. You knew it needed a different battery. That's a Canon cripple hammer?

A guy gets a brand spanking new $3k camera. Complains his old tech batteries don't work. Too impatient to wait for the correct battery to charge. That = cripple hammer. 🤤🤣

I am not an electrical engineer, I am a photojournalist who shoots for large newspapers and the wires.
I find it very hard to believe the camera absolutely can not be made to read the percentage remaining in the older batteries.

That is a choice.

The R3 is my work camera, the R6 is a walk around camera, I picked up a spare P battery and will live with it.

Oh, I thought you were saying the old style batteries wouldn't fully power and run your new camera. I must have misinterpreted that to mean the battery remaining percentage doesn't read out. You just get bars.

I remember every Canon I've had just showing bars. I look now and then. If it's low, I swap batteries. Easy. And I ain't no engineer either. I totally missed the part where you were talking about the battery meter. You are right. That's a choice. A choice Canon didn't make to your liking. So, crippled.

Back when I shot fashion shows, I'd get 3,000 out of two batteries on. 5D Mark III. Never worried how Canons meter displayed. Sure af doesn't cripple a camera.

I just received mine a few minutes ago. It is still a brick until I get some memory cards, but there is one thing I noticed that is pretty concerning to me, and I am not sure if this is normal, but it feels like something is rattling when I hold the camera. Is this normal? Not that this should matter, but I have not even powered up the camera.

Its the IBIS, when powered off there's nothing holding the sensor still. It's nothing to worry about. Will disappear as soon as you power on the camera.
