Agree to everything but the tilt screen. We certainly don't need another camera like the R100 with a fixed screen. Fully articulating screens have the advantage that you can use them for selfies, even on a tripod and with an attached flash. Can't do that with a tilt-only screen, besides tilt-screens often have a limited amount they can move up or down.

Design: Make it boxy and small. It'd be fantastic to have a full frame that's maybe even a bit smaller and lighter than the R10. But please leave the EVF and hotshoe, unlike Panasonic.

IBIS: Nice to have when adapting vintage glass, but won't happen. I'm 100% sure the camera is going to slot in between the R8 and the R6 Mark II. With IBIS, it would cannibalize R6II sales.

Memory cards: Don't care if it only has one card slot. This isn't gonna be a camera you bring to a wedding. It's just for casual photography.

Simulation: One thing I would absolutely love to see is analog film simulations. I'm so over those 7 standard Canon picture styles. Canon could work together with VSCO or RNI and offer more refined picture styles that include adding noise, halation, bloom, dust, vignetting etc. I won't happen, but still, maybe someone at Canon reads this.

You are not the only one having this problem. I have the same issue with the R5 Mk II and the R5.

At this point I trust Canon to make a good camera with decent trade-offs. I don't trust them in areas of subjective taste.

I want the screen to behave like the Fujifilm X-E5, Canon G7x and Canon M6 mark ii.

Maybe we could get a bigger EVF. The RP and R8 is workable but feels cramped

Aside from the "retro" aesthetic, what are you expecting from the mark II that the original doesn't provide?

They're already catered to by 95% of the market.

I would like them to include IBIS so they could make their lenses smaller. It would also make Canon’s smallest lenses, the 50mm, the 16mm, and the 28mm more usable in low light. I don’t want to shoot everything at night with a shallow depth of field. If Ricoh could fit IBIS in their GR series, then Canon should be able to do it on the R8 Mark II! The battery problem can be solved with a LP-E6P but I’m not in favor of increasing the bulk and weight that much and would be happy with the LP-E17 if they can make sure it charges fast enough from USB-C.

I would also be happy if they were able to keep the costs down by re-using the existing 24MP sensor, but I have a feeling the 33MP sensor is the new norm and that canon is scheduling the death of their 24MP sensor now to take advantage of industry scaling.

Lastly I would like to see some weather sealing to make the camera safer to take out when it’s raining. Of course I’d like to see some more weather sealed, small, non-L lenses, but that’s probably the hardest to ask of these three requests!

Sorry but I see this as a distraction and a bit of a waste of time, but that's just me, I guess, whatever turns your fancy.

I think Canon should concentrate on getting a worthy follow up to the R8 and revitalize their AP-C line, all are looking long in the tooth, and maybe even a few worthy AP-C lenses, RF-S 15-85mm F4, Please!

And maybe even an enthusiast compact, 24 mp, 1 inch, 24-105 equivalent lens.

That would make me happy

I doubt the new R8 will get dual card slots or IBIS. Basically a new sensor and updated AF, but the same limits to separate it from the R6 series will remain.

I have been looking at the R8 as my travel camera. My R5 is to heavy with it L bracket attached and really not needed for those type travel photos IMO.
I would like to see a joy stick for moving focusing point and quick control dial.

I think rather than silver it would look distinctive and different if they did more with the darker gray color used on the RF mount and would fit in with the lens lineup better.

I really don't like the idea of turning the R8 successor in some kind of "retro-not-really-retro" camera. Seems like it'll mess the R8 and won't appeal to the purists. My fear is that the retro design and maybe the redistribution of the button and wheel layout to give a retro look will mess up the camera. Sure, Canon has a good market research department and probably knows what they're doing, but companies can be wrong at times, too.

Just get an R6 Mark II then.
If they did all of that, nobody would buy the R6 Mark II, you would essentially get an R6 Mark II copy in a smaller form factor, for cheaper. How would you, as a company, make sure people still spend more money on the R6 II? Crippling the burst mode is certainly not gonna cut it.

The R8, albeit not being a great all-around camera, is the closest thing you'll get to a perfectly small, compact ff and very capable camera for occasions you need or wish to pack light. Just a few tweaks would turn it into a perfect camera for such events. It seems like a lot of people are posting "just change this one thing and baaam... perfect". This "one thing" is very different for everybody. For me, the one thing would be a joystick. First day preorder improvement.

Canon could improve the R8 with the following implementations:
1. IBIS
2. Joystick
3. scroll wheel
4. mechanical shutter to protect the shutter when lenses are switched (or something to replace that and protect the sensor)
5. pre-capture
6. Improved AF
7. new sensor
8. new screen
9. improved EVF
10. dual card slots
11. improved focus peaking (I didn't think of it, it is CR guys wish)

Of all these things, I figure a maximum of two feature would/ could happen.

Interestingly, I believe the R8 model could be a great camera to test a new screen mechanism. The flippy screen was introduced on rebel cameras like the 750d but wasn't used on any of the professional full frame DSLR. It made its entry to full frame with the EOS R. Maybe this time Canon will test it with a lower model in the line up as well and then implement it in the R7/6/5/1 line up.

Im not expecting anything but many things could be improved: Adding a joystick, better thermals, improved EVF
