New Canon 600mm f/4 Design Uses Spotting Scope Trick

One typo in the article....the Nikon 400S with its built in TC should be 560mm f/4 (not 600 f/5.6).

Canon releases firmware updates for the EOS R5 and EOS R6

My lockups were perched Belted Kingfishers so no one should shoot those either... ;)

New rumor of Supertelephoto DO’s and the R1 [CR2]

A 500 f/4.5 would surely cost 5 figures. An f/5 maybe not. That 800 probably wouldn't hit 5 figures as it is just 1/2 stop slower than the current 800/11 which is dirt cheap. I actually can't imagine them releasing an 800 f/9.5...doesn't make much sense. 800/8 maybe.

New rumor of Supertelephoto DO’s and the R1 [CR2]

My thoughts also. I didn't expect an R1 announcement till fall of 2023 at earliest with release early 2024. But hey, I love gear so bring it on Canon!! My choice out of all these DO lenses would be the 500 f/4.5

Canon announces the RF 800mm F5.6L IS USM and the RF 1200mm F8L IS USM

Someone pointed to a source of the RF lenses with 2xTC MTFs. So here is an update from my earlier post with those MTFs instead of the MkIII MTFs.... I think these do show some improvements with the performance. Although one would hope for more when spending so much. The old 800L has a better...

Canon announces the RF 800mm F5.6L IS USM and the RF 1200mm F8L IS USM

The MTF of the 600/1.4TC is slightly better than this 800 except in the far edge of the frame (which is essentially the MTF of the 400+2xTC). (RF600/RF1.4 is likely even better). I don't see why anyone would waste money on this 800 over buying the 600/1.4TC or the 400/2.0TC UNLESS they want to...

Canon announces the RF 800mm F5.6L IS USM and the RF 1200mm F8L IS USM

Here is everything I dug up on Canon Japan including the MTFs of these lenses and the EF Mark III/2xTCIII (no MTFs exist for the RF 2x and the RF 400/600). 1200: 600: 800: 400: RF 2xTC: 1200: 600III/2xTCIII 800: 400III/2xTCIII: I don't know about you but these look really similar...

Canon announces the RF 800mm F5.6L IS USM and the RF 1200mm F8L IS USM

Bargain basement pricing for sure....have fun guys...I'll stick the 2x on my 600 when I really need 1200mm and save the $7K for the R1.

Canon RF 1200mm Details Leak: Weighs only 0.25kg more than the RF 600mm f/4L IS USM

Those two lenses are very similar in size. The 600 has slightly more girth but not much. The Nikon 800 is longer than the Nikon 600. The only thing that makes the older Nikon 600VR look massive is if he had on the dual lens hoods. The 800 and the newer Nikon 600 have a lens hood like Canon.

Canon RF 1200mm Details Leak: Weighs only 0.25kg more than the RF 600mm f/4L IS USM

Looking at the RF 600 diagram it has the same two fluorite and single Super UD as this 1200 spec list says. I believe the single UD is the very front element. I'd assume that the 1200 will look identical from the two vertical hash lines forward and then the rear smaller elements will be...

First Leaked Images of the RF 800mm F5.6L IS USM and the RF 1200mm F8L IS USM

My thoughts exactly when I read that post. There is enough fanboy BS on this forum...last thing we need are the admins egging it on. But I'll give tiggy the benefit of the doubt as his history on this and other forums has been at a higher standard.

First Leaked Images of the RF 800mm F5.6L IS USM and the RF 1200mm F8L IS USM

I really think they just stuck the 2xTC elements into the back of a 400/2.8 and 600/4 and called it a day...oh and of course the silver welded RF-EF adapter :ROFLMAO:

First Leaked Images of the RF 800mm F5.6L IS USM and the RF 1200mm F8L IS USM

I'd much rather buy Nikon's upcoming 600 f/4 with possible 1.4TC built in than this 800/5.6. I'd never even consider an 800/5.6 lens and especially would never buy this 1200/8...in that case I'd rather buy the 800/5.6 and use a 1.4 to get 1120/8. These are such super specialized lenses and as...

Canon RF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM and Canon RF 1200mm f/8L IS USM coming soon?

800 is also not something I'm that interested in. I prefer to shoot 600/4 or even 400/2.8 and reach to 800(840) with TCs if needed. I wouldn't spend 600/4+ money on one of these lenses. I think these are very unlikely to be traditional optics as I really don't think there is a big market for...

New Canon EOS R3 orders may take up to 6 months to fulfill

Last Monday I was speaking with my dealer about the Z9 and he asked if I knew anyone looking for an R3 as he had "a few" in stock. I'm guessing he has since sold them. This was at CameraCanada. If you are looking you could give them a call and see if they still have any.

Nikon releases a teaser video for the upcoming flagship Z 9 mirrorless camera

Before making that statement you might want to wait for Nikon to give us the real specs. So far the only facts Nikon has given out are: 1) Stacked FF sensor 2) 8K video 3) Dual tilting rear LCD (via this recent teaser) That is all we officially know. We don't know the resolution (other than...

Nikon releases a teaser video for the upcoming flagship Z 9 mirrorless camera

Are you having buffer issues with your A1? I've been finding the ~150 shot buffer to be more than adequate. And I'm not even using the CFexpress cards. Just V90 SD. I have more buffer issues with my R5 using CFexpress but I understand the R5 is just a consumer model and not flagship so that...

Here is the Canon RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 IS USM

Well 800/11 is a heck of a lot better than 800/16 and having to use a 2xTC on a cheap zoom lens to get there. I don't even need to use the lenses to know which one will have better IQ. 600 f/11...yeah that may be more competitive. 560/11 out of this lens but again needing a TC to get there...
