Don't worry. I never decide lightly on any potential costly decision :) - re. (1) this doesn't seem to be a major limitation given Sony claim 5.5 stop using IBIS - and re. (2) they do have a 12-24mm F4 zoom and 3. parties offer 10mm (though F5.6). So maybe difficult but not impossible it seems...

IBIS and lens IS are combine and work together in Sony, Fuji and Olympus ML bodies. While lens IS works best for long focal lengths, IBIS works for all lenses.

That's may have been the case before but the A9 and the A7R3 (which I own) are so much improved that even my did-hard Canon friend was immediately impressed when he tried my A7R3. I suggest that you go check the A9 (or A7R3) and see for youself.

I think the filter is a much cheaper solution than replacing the front lens element. Also more convenient - you would have to do without the lens while being serviced.

Well I sold my 5D3 and now have an A7R II and A7 II and cannot see myself going back. I switched solely because of the IQ which is is like night and day. If I was doing action/sports I would have kept my 5D3 but since I'm 99% landscape/portrait/street guy the Sony wins hands down IMO. No...
