An M5 Markii with IBIS is the one thing that would extend the life of the M system. Between sigma and canon, they already have some decent little primes and it just doesn’t make sense to hang a giant telephoto off that little guy anyway...you would just get an older DLSR or move to the R mount...

You are correct. The Rs could be a sports shooter, IF they make it fast enough (at least 10 FPS). If it’s only 5FPS it will only be a 5DS/5DSR replacement. And yes, an upgrade to the 5D4 market will have better low light performance...higher resolution is not needed.

All I want is the Canon version of the A7R4. Give me sufficient speed, high megapixels, and an effective crop mode. Wouldn’t it be nice to replace the 5DS and 7Dii in one go?

Bingo. When Canon: 1: Could easily technically release the M5Markii. 2: Knows that people would want to buy it. 3: Still chooses not to release it. It means that they don’t want you to buy it. They don’t want to make something that will be “good enough” to dissuade folks from the RF...
