Canon RF 14-28mm f/2.8L IS USM Z Up Next?

The Z lenses seem to be very important to Canon if they're filling out the trinity line-up that quickly. I hope Canon will complete the F2 trinity (if there was/ is one planed) and a small and compact 24-70mm F4 L would also be very welcomed to fill out the F4 trinity. As I've read/ heard, the RF 24-105mm F4 L isn't really considered being part of a F4 trinity. I not quite sure about that though. On the one hand, for the Z trinity 24-105mm F2.8 seems to have set a new standard and maybe Canon does consider the F4 version of the 24-105mm as part of a F4 trinity. On the other hand, there used to be a EF 24-70mm F4 L in the F4 trinity for EF mount and the 24-105mm is not on par with the 70-200mm and 14-35mm imo. And while we´re at it, a F2.8 non L 70-170mm should be a given I guess.

Wow, that´d be a lot of trinities (or trinitys? the dictionary said there is no plural form)

Z-trinity:
RF 14-28mm F2.8 Z (rumored)
RF 24-105mm F2.8 Z
RF 70-200mm F2.8 Z

F2.8 - L-trinity:
RF 15-35mm F2.8
RF 24-70mm F2.8
RF 70-200mm F2.8

F4 - L-trinity:
RF 14-35mm F4
or RF 10-20mm F4 L
RF 24-105mm F4 --> does it really count?
RF 24-70mm F4 --> not available...are there any rumors???
RF 70-200mm F4

F2.8 - non L-trinity:
RF 16-28mm F2.8
RF 28-70mm F2.8
RF 70-170mm F2.8 ??? --> rumored lens

F2 L trinity --> hopefully there will be lenses to complete it
RF 28-70mm F2
rumored:
RF 24-70mm F2
RF 70-135/ 150mm F2
RF UWA F2 zoom --> I am guessing it will either end at 28mm or 24mm depending on what Canon does with the successor of the RF 28-70mm F2. I have no idea where it would start.

Five trinities (plus maybe the extra RF 24-105mm F4) would give us 16-17 great options and we're not even counting the 15-30mm and 24-105mm non L :)

good times to be a photographer (if it weren't for all those video-centered lenses)

The 24-105 F4 most definitely counts if you are a travel photographer and need to keep your kit light.
I'm heading to the mountains of India on Saturday for a month with 2x R5 II's and

F4 - L-trinity:
RF 14-35mm F4
RF 24-105mm F4 --> does it really count?
RF 70-200mm F4

+ the 35mm F1.4

All gear can fit in a carry on backpack under 7KG.

I won't buy it, being far too happy with the RF 15-35 f/2,8.
Never had such a sharp WA zoom.
OK, vignetting is on the high side, but I don't care, shooting landscapes between f/ 5,6 and f/11.
And, what is very important to me, it is extremely sharp at 35mm, my most used focal length.
My next buy will be the 24-70 II or f/2. :)

I do not think that would be an L lens.
I am thinking more of a set more in line with the RF 16-28 f/2.8 and RF 28-70 f/2.8.
I do not see much of a point if it is not both smaller and cheaper than those.
I think if it´d be really compact, it could attract some buyers such as people who own the RF 70-200mm F4. They´d be a perfect fit. The RF 24-105mm F4 L weighs 700gr is quite long. The EF 24-700mm is 600gr, so if Canon would be able to cut about 80gr (like they did with the RF 14-35mm F4 L despite becoming wider) it could be an intriguing offer.

But you're right in one point: a new 24-70mm F4 would have some competition (RF 28-70 f/2.8) the EF version didn't have.

Mine is the RF14-35/4, RF24-105/4 and the RF100-500 under 3kg

Worst case, I would drop the RF24-105/4 for my 2 lens kit under 2kg. Covers landscape and telephoto with cropping on the R5 if needed. Not good for portraits though :)
