Canon USA Cancelling Camera Price Drops Due to Tariffs

I was hopping to see the price drop for the RF 14-35 f4, guess that's not going to happen.
The latest news is as a response to some countries are negotiating and those tariffs going to 10%, the stock market "skyrockets" (this is CNN's word choice - not exactly Trump fans). Don't give up hope, yet!

Were this regular discounts? Because when not, they might be an indicator for some new planned APS-C stuff in July/August. I know there is something to come, but I just try to make a connection here. I know that it's a common thing to discount cameras bevore a successor hits the market. Just my speculation.

My recollection is that in response to COVID, Canon rased prices about $200. After Covid had become less serious, in lieu of bringing the original price back, Canon made a sale price.

Was all this s..t really necessary?

No.

Canon does use China for a lot of things. Even if the US and Japan come to terms, the China trade war will disrupt supply chains globally and still have an effect on pricing on most everything. It's pretty much a game of chicken with those two. Good times!

... the China trade war ...
I think it is more a trade world war, because not only China is getting tariffs.

I've just listened to a podcast (German POV) about this "foreign policy".
They ended up with the theory that this will lead to a new world trade order with China stepping into gaps, that Mr. T. leaves open.
Did you know that Japan and South Korea already negotiating (say talking) with China to intensify trade relations?
Japan and South Korea! The closest partners of the US in the Asia!
