Any update to the 60D in next 6months?

This is my first post, be gentle.

The time to sell my t1i with accessories and a lens or two is quickly passing me by. My question is what to upgrade to. 60D seems like a great deal, and even if it was updated this would fall out of my $1000 price range(body only).

It seems like I should go for the 60D while its still around unless the t5i would be better or the 7D will fall under $1000 after an update in the next 6 months.

Which of these scenarios seem likely? Thanks for your help.

honestly, you don't say what your needs are in a camera, so it's hard to say. My thing is get it now, but get the most recent technology you can at the best price.

I have a 60D and new t4i. If I could only keep one, I'd keep the T4i. I feel the focusing is faster, I love the touchscreen, and the light weight. I miss the rear dial and slightly larger viewfinder on the 60D

Forget about the replacement for the 7d/60 D because you're going to be well over 1,000 body only...depending on how they position it my guess is 1200-1500 at first. Forget the t5i because it won't be at least 6 months till it's on the street.

Look for the t4i 18-135 STM kit on Amazon...I got it for 899.

I hope to take my DSLR with me while backpacking but I would like the versatility to enter into paid-gigs (engagement, protraits, events etc.) Durabilty and weather proofing would be great but are not available in models within my price range unless the 7D comes down. other than that I would place priority in focusing ability and resolution.

As far as lenses go, from Canon I have a 15-85 and 50/f1.8. From Tamron I've got a 10-24 and a 70-300.

Im in a situation where im looking to buy my first dslr but am also unsure as to what to purchase. Iv had my eye on the 60D for quite some time and now the price has dropped considerably. The problem im facing is that this product is over 2 years old and from what iv read a replacement or 60d-7D amalgamation announcement should be coming soon, however i have no idea when we could expect the product to hit store shelves or its release price. I have more than enough money to purchase a 60D now and still have a fair amount left over or purchase its replacement upon release. As most of you know a dslr purchase is a mini investment and i dont want to regret buying a 60D so late on when a new one could be just around the corner, with better features/IQ/sensor etc.

Was just wondering what some of you guys would do or you thoughts on the matter, any advice at all would be very much appreciated!

I have the 60D at home and the 7D at work. Personally, I pick the 60D as superior for astronomy and the 7D for everything else. I don't really see a huge difference in image quality between the two, but the 7D appears to focus faster and with the AFMA, focuses more accurately than the 60D does.

Waiting for updates is a slippery slope... There is always something new about to come out, and whatever is about to come out will be expensive when it arrives. If you are going to stick to a $1000 budget, you can easily get a 60D body, probably a 7D soon, or a T4i. The next rebel will probably be under a thousand, a 70D probably around a thousand, and a 7D mark 2 will probably be close to $2000..... But these bodies are speculation... They may or not get released and pricing is a wild guess.

Also, if you are going hiking, both the 7D and 60D are way better sealed than the rebels and battery life is significantly improved

There's a very good chance that Canon will announce a new 1.6x camera in Jan/Feb.
So, if you wait a few more weeks, you will be in a better position to decide what to get.

You can be sure, though, that whatever gets announced will be more expensive that the 60D.
Also, the 60D price might go up slightly after New Year.

So, if you want the best deal, get a 60D now. Otherwise, wait a little.

I recommend buying a used 60D. I'm actually selling mine (and it's still under Canon Warranty til May).

This way you're upgrading but you can get a really decent price for a used one.

I'd expect a replacement this year, but then again i expected a replacement this past year... I would be interested in getting a nice backup camera for my aging 7D backup... If they are able give give cleaner files, better ISO, good feature set, then I dont need a 7d2 for a backup... (especially if i can sell my old 7d for the same price or more than a new 70d...

Both are old cameras, and I would say a new one will be round the corner soon. But if recent trends are anything to go by these will be more expensive, and you may have to wait a few months to get hold of one. Depends how desperate you are. I would take a 7D over a 60D because its AF system is much better.

Man you could find a used 60D for probably $450-$500, you can't really go wrong at that price. I can't imagine the resale value dropping much lower than that.

Read the reviews on the 7D,60D vs T4i and then decide. You could use your lenses and accessories on any of them.
7D takes compact flash memory cards. If you have a few SD cards, 60D or T4i are your options, or buy compact flash cards. I bought a 7D, upgrading from a 40D. I have no regrets and made a good choice as the 7D has been fantastic.
I have had no problems with the focusing of the 7D only problems are with me. Which I am getting better the more I use it. ;D

I believe the 7D was being sold for 999.99 a few days ago. You can get a used one or a refurb from Canons Customer Loyaltry program for under 1000 bucks.
If the AF of the 60D doesn't bother you, then i'd get a used 5D Classic for around $650 bucks or a used 5DII for hopefully $1200. I greatly prefer FF to crop, but then, you'll need new lenses as well.
