I'm trying to find out if someone has experienced that this camera sometimes skips a number. The name is normally: IMG_ followed by a number of four digits, followed with a dot and the extention JPG. The number of the following photo is +1. I want to know if it s it possible that the software, or hardware names the following photo +2.

Try a different memory card, its possible that it is corrupted and the second image could not be written. Something is wrong, so eliminate the easy things first.
If a new card does not work, it may be possible to do a total reset of the camera which puts it back to factory settings.
I'd try a different battery, clean the contacts on the lens, anything that is easily done even though it doesn't appear to be related. If you try everything, you will need to contact Canon and arrange for a repair.
