That would be a dream to have the same camera body design as M6 ii... but I think that will come with R50. I hope I'm wrong!
From rumours so far, R50 is supposedly a "vlogging" oriented camera. So it certainly would be a M6/Mx00 replacement for RF mount. I really hope that different body design for R8 is pointing towards FF version of M6(with option to add evf).
Well this is a very interesting development...the R6 Mark II full-frame sensor in a body with a new form factor? I am listening now! Please take LP-E6NH batteries and not the smaller battery from the R10.
Lp-e6 would certainly be a welcome addition but I hope there are noticable improvements to battery life.

Almost certainly won’t use LP-E6 at that weight.

I do not believe these specs at all.
These so-called specs are just a summary of rumors.
They sound too good to be true.

While I can easily imagine this camera without IBIS, EVF, weather sealing and LP-E6 battery, I highly doubt they’d put the same sensor as the R6 Mark II in it, while allowing it to achieve the same 40fps, having C-log3, and having the same autofocus.

I’d expect a lower tier sensor.

That would be great but I'm afraid Canon for many years is keeping the same scheme about naming their cameras. For example 6D, 5D -> R6, R5 then 7D -> R7, R10 -> 10D (and it followed until 90D) etc. So I feel that R50 will follow M50 style of camera with newer tech ofc. R8 from the other hand is a new addition in the line up. It should be better than R10 but not better than R7 which is apsc size sensor. It would be strange for R8 to be ff body when R7 is Apsc. I hope I'm wrong ofc!

Don't forget the announced price of the body is $1499.
So, I wouldn't expect underwhelming features.

I can imagine that this is a video centric camera, clog3 indicates so. if so:
- viewfinder doesn\'t matter nearly as much - RP viewfinder wasn\'t a selling point to me either way
- 40 frames a second - does it need a mechanical shutter if streamlined for video?
- no IBIS? many vlogging cams don\'t have ibis
- LPE17 isn\'t a deal breaker... could be an LP E17N or something and Canon could also improve battery draw

Overall interesting specs, although no-IBIS will turn off many here.
Bus as some said, some sound too good to be true.

R8 weight: 461g
RP weight: 485g
Thanks for that comparison.
This makes me hope for a really small travel body.
In that case I'd swallow the no-IBIS, what could have been expected.
