It does an impressive job in many areas considering the very wide angle / short focal length
It can also provide very impressive flare and ghosts if you put a light source in the corner.

While I'd love to have the extra 3mm wider focal length on full frame, I'm content with the performance of my Nikon 14-24mm for how I use it and the fact it fits my D800 without an adapter.

Still, for the FF Canon shooter who wants or needs this UWA zoom's abilities, and can justify the cost, this is a pretty good chunk of glass.
It may be especially useful for UWA night sky shots with the low coma.

Now see I would say mine is good distortion and flare wise, as good or better than my old 14mm Mk2, another review that contradicts the last I read. Do any online reviews ever agree with one another?

I was shooting in a dark street a few weeks back and light control was A!, also used it for astro and yes coma us A1.

The 11-24 has very well corrected distortion - about 1.2% at infinity. High distortion is just a product of using a small test chart at close range and the center being physically closer than the edges (=change in magnification = distortion).

The 11-24 is limited by coma / astigmatism, while most lenses that are labeled as having "coma" actually suffer from astigmatism and oblique sagittal spherical aberration. It does provide an excellent level of correction, however.
