I am hoping they won't since it's a very unique camera. But they probably would. The 1D4 has the potential to eat off 1DX sales especially for some avid birders who like the extra reach and the good ISO performance, and the lower price tag to boot.

Nikon probably saw this threat early on that is why they discontinued the D3S as soon as the D4 started shipping.

So do I understand that there is still very high demand for the 1D Mark IV? I have an opportunity to get hold of 10 brand new ones.

I am trying to work out how much Duty and VAT etc. I would have to pay if I bring them back to the UK.

What are your thoughts?

I would ask around and see how big the demand is in your area first before buying ten of these bad boys ;D

Here in Scandinavia the 1D4 is being picked up by sports shooters who need a camera for the upcoming Olympics and Euro 2012 games, avid birders and nature photographers like me who just cannot see the FF advantage in what we photograph, and disgruntled 5D3 would-be owners (again like me!) who have preordered many months ago and got fed up waiting.

I'm guessing the 1D4 will become a classic and a coveted collector's item in the future. But it rivals the 5D3 in price and the 1DX in features, so I would not be surprised if Canon discontinues the 1D4 as soon as soon as supplies of the 1DX and 5D3 become abundant.

The Canon Direct Store in the US has added them to the refurb list. The are constantly "out of stock", but tht could change at a moments notice. If you get lucky and refresh the site as soon as they update it, especially during a 20% off sale- a deal could be had.

Adorama took my backorder "order" this morning, no idea when it arrive and ship. B&H would not take the order, in the event it will be discontinued. Although everything I have heard is that the Mark iv will not be discontinued.
