I just picked up the 1DX.

Maybe a simple question. I notice their are two "P modes". One is the regular "P" mode.
The other "P" mode has a "P1" C"???

Can anyone tell me the difference? I can't seem to find it in the manual??

P is program mode and then you have three Custom modes (C1, C2 and C3).

If you were in P mode when you registered and saved those settings to C1, then C1 will change to C1P, to show you that the program mode was used to register that custom function.

The C2 and C3 modes have to be added to your mode choices by selecting them in the C.Fn2:Exposure Menu

In the orange menu C.Fn2: Exposure (Restrict shooting modes) you can check the boxes of the modes that you would like to add to your mode choices.

If you check C2 and C3 and press OK, then once added you can choose C2 or C3 and then register C2 in the yellow set-up4 menu. If you register C2 while in AV mode then it will become C2AV in the mode screen.

No, you don't want to do that, since that will clear your custom menu settings for the camera.

To clear the "custom shooting function only," you can go to the yellow menu Set Up 4 and select custom shooting mode (C1-C3) and then select clear settings and you will have the choice of which custom shooting mode to clear; C1, C2, or C3.

To remove the custom shooting choice C1p from the mode button, you will have to go to the orange menu, Restrict shooting modes CFn2: Exposure and uncheck whatever modes that you don't want to show up in the shooting mode menu.
