Thanks, ajfotofilmagem. You are right, but I was hoping for a rather simple way to do it.

It is all rather straight forward, and there are cameras that are supposed to do it out of the box.

I have also seen an adapter that you mounted on a GoPro (or similar), which would capture 360 degree view onto the normal camera, and then you'd use the associated software to remap the captured video to "normal looking video".

A quick google led me to this http://www.amazon.com/Kogeto-360-Degree-Panoramic-Accessory-iPhone/dp/B005NFIOK0 but it's not the one I recall.

Search for 'panoramic video' and a bunch of links will show up for various products.
