Just curious.
I wanted best 85mm set up at aperture F2.

I have 70D and 50L.

Would image quality be better if I got 6D and 85mm 1.8 instead?

image quality refer to wow effect - sharpness, color, contrast, etc.

Chromatic aberration and sharpness are worse in 50L. See this comparison with 60D and 1DS Mark iii, which should be very similar to the result of 70D and 6D.

thanks. I guess I need to stop fooling myself that 50L is better, but but I like to use an L Glass.
I have previously own good 85mm 1.8 but sold it coz of the need of more versatile lens.

It feels hard to re buy lens you once sold already.

I don't want make same mistake buy selling 50L for a 6D and 85mm 1.4.

Tsk Tsk. I guess I just need to work hard to get that another fullframe.

The 50mmL is a special lens, I'd never put one on a crop myself. It is not a general purpose lens, so you need to appreciate the Bokeh for portrait use.

The 85mm f/1.8 is going to be sharper, but that's not always what you want in a portrait.
