If Canon know how much light the camera leaks from the illuminated LCD they should be able to add exposure compensation behind the scenes. Right?
If the meter says < 0 EV and the camera knows the LCD is on simply add say -1 EV.
Or of the meter is giving 0 EV then -2/3 EV, if 1 or 2 EV then -1/3 Ev.
I don't know the numbers, i'm just guessing. And different batches might leak differently. That shouldn't be a problem since the canon firmware can identify the cameras serial number and adjust the behind the scenes exposure compensation accordingly. I'm not saying canon shouldn't fix the actual leak, but if they add this "pump" they could avoid most returns. You still wont be able to stick a powerful flashlight up against the panel without the automatic exposure messing up, but this, this should not be a real issue for most people.
I don't know how this stuff really works so I might be wrong. If you (anybody) know how light meters and firmware work on canon in relation to this problem please explain.
Wish I could get me one, but they are really expensive here in Sweden... Body only is 32 000 sek = 4 750 USD
