I see 5D mark II for 1989, I want to get that ,but I am not in any hurry, do you guys think the price will come down further in the next one or two months?

The price in the UK exactly 1 yrs ago today, when i held off buying because of imminent risk of the mkiii being released, was £1499... now the price is £1530.. This is pretty much rock bottom

I only see the price dropping lower after the official announcement of the mkiii... after that who'd buy the mkii unless the autofocus still wasn't up to scratch and the price was >£2500..

@Kingstonwhites - I think there will still be a market. After all, who would by the 5D after the release of the 5D MKII and even through this year I would still see those selling at $1000+

I think especially for those entering into the market, which there always will be, the MKII will settle into the $1700 - $1900 range when the MKIII is finally announced, and there will still be a $1000 - $1300 gap between models. For many of those new people... That will boil down to I can get the 5D MKIII body and well maybe one lens, or I can get the 5D MKII, a 24-105 and a 70-200 F/4 for the same price of a body alone, and then they can upgrade to the MKIII a year or so down the line when they have saved up a little more.

The nice thing about "buying at the bottom" is you often can get a few years out of something and almost get out what you put in.

I also expect the MK II price to go back up over $2K once the holidays are over. Regardless I paid $1800 for mine with 2500 shutter clicks, so not too concerned about the hundred or so I would lose if I sold today, tomorrow or in the near future. I also think there is a chance the 5D MKIII could also be priced above $3K and don't see $3200 as unrealistic, especially if they add a 30MP sensor, better AF and improved ISO. They need to protect the 1Dx as well, so I expect the MKIII to have lesser FPS, ISO and AF points in comparison, but higher MP. Would also not surprise me if we only see 24 - 27 MP as well.

I dont think the price will come down much more after Xmas. If you want one, now is the time to buy them. Even if a new 5D III is announce in a couple of months for example, this is no garantee that 5D II price would come down. The opposite has happened in the past actually!

So need one, get one now! Great price!

IMO, Canon has already tipped their hand on the price of the 5D3 and it will be significantly higher. I think you have the prices about right. Otherwise why take out a bunch of buyers like me with cheap 5D2 if 5D3 is around the corner? I'd gladly wait and pay $2700 for a 5D3 until a 5D2 shows up for $1999 bundled with stuff I'll actually use. Then the wait ends and I buy now.

But then I am not a candidate for a $3200 body regardless. I have faith Canon marketing knows the price elasticity of their market well enough to not ding their 5D3 market by dumping cheap 5D2s to people like me. And that leads to a single conclusion: 5D3 is going to cost substantially more. However, I suspect it will be well worth it for those willing to buy in that price tier.

Look at the used prices of the 1DsIII... I think those have gone up, and the used cameras are selling for almost new prices.

It can always be tough when their is something new, better and greater out there. Then again, there are some incredible shots that have been made with the 5D MKII over the last few years, so it is not like the camera is not capable.

Would I pay an extra $1000 for a 5D MKIII over what I paid for my MK II which would put it say around $2700 after selling my MKII, maybe a little more...

Tough call, but one I could probably justify. Anything less than $2500 is a no-brainer, and even if I take a $400 bath selling the MK II, to me it still would be a "cheap" rental fee for lots of experience as well as a gained appreciation on the MKIII.

As it potentially pushed up into the $3K / $3.2K range... That becomes tougher. At that point I may start thinking of glass or picking up a 7D to balance out the attributes. I think it is pretty hard to beat the combo of a 7D and 5D MKII especially when double-strapping both.

I will start throwing aside $100 a month for the potential upgrade, but can easily see where that may put me more Feb 2013 than Sept 2012.

Again, I think post Jan 7th or when ever those lens rebates expire, I think the 5D MKII prices will start rising, especially if a MK III is in a 6 month window or so, stock will dwindle.

If anything, I think that this "clearing" of stock is more about inventory reduction to do just that... put an upward pressure on prices once the stock thins to allow the MK III to be released at a price point somewhere around $1000 to $1200 or so above the MK II.

I think the price will go further down and stop at around 1500-1600 USD.
Then the new EOS 5D will be there. Maybe announced at CES.
The new Mark III ;) will have 18MP, same sensor as the new 1 DX and one 5 Digic. Just a bit "faster" but with higher sensivity.

Found this on the digital picture.com

Canon EOS 5D Mark II - Only $1,949.95 Shipped
Cameta Camera has the Canon EOS 5D Mark II for only $1,949.95 shipped.

The Canon EOS 5D Mark II and EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM Lens Kit is only $2,799.00 shipped.

the B&H deal is the best IMO look at all the other gear they supply with it for $1999
i'm almost tempted to get one at that price!
