I've had the camera for 2 weeks and just completed a fresh Micro AF adjustments usuing Focal this morning. About 5 hours later I took a few shots using the 580 EX II and the camera worked fine. Then the camera lost all my micro AF settings and would not auto-focus. The top LCD switches back and forth between M Focus and One shot. I've tried 3 different lenses and all micro adjust info was lost and none would auto-focus. I tried all AF modes and turning Microadjust on and off.

After Turning the camera on and off serveral times it's now working and has restored the AF settings but did not restore them to the setting I had this morning. It restored it back to an earlier setting.

Anyone have this happen?

Something similar. I had to take the microadjustment off, make sure that if you saved that setting in C1 or C2 or C3, this setting is also changed and saved without microadjustment. In my specific case the camera locked because I used a canon 300 mm tele with a kenko TC that was not recognized by the camera. After I entered the microadjustment it would stop working untill I tood the battery off and put a different lens. I was able to make the combination work but had to put the microadjustment with the Adjust All by same ammount.

Hope it helps

Um this sounds like my first copy which i returned, my new copy works fine with kenko gear, kenko international checked their mk3 with their gear and had no problems. my first copy definatle had flaky AF my new one seems all good though, I would suggest you guys take yours back. I wonder when canon are going to admit there are fault AF modules out there ::)

FoCal can crash and not store settings properly, and leave your camera in a weird state. This sounds like the situation to me. It only happened to me once with my 5D MK II. Changing lenses while running focal seems to occasionally cause this.
