Ok awhile back I was shooting in teathered mode to my laptop and while shooting a had a little kid trip on my cord and pulled it at an angle and I think it stretched my plug on my camera because ever since it fits in it loose, my question is, can I attach my camera by way of a hdmi cord to my laptop and will it work the same as the av cord while shooting in teathered mode while in lightroom???

Thanks,

Marc

Hi Marc.
My understanding is that HDMI is purely for audio visual signal, whereas the USB, if that is what you are referring to, is transferring data to the pc where it is turned in to the image you see in software. I have no idea if Lightroom is able to translate the signal from HDMI in to a format that it is able to use. If you were using the AV cord with phono plugs on the end then I see no reason Lightroom wouldn't work in the same manner as the phono leads also provide an audio visual signal, the only difference being the AV cable is analogue the HDMI is digital.

Cheers Graham.

The plug I'm using is the usb cord, it still works just loose so at times it comes out and I loose connection so I just have to restart the teathered mode in lightroom. Just wandering if there is another port I can use without having to send this in to canon to have fix and be without the body.

Thanks!
