i just bought canon 5d markll a bout 10 days ago, but i can"t find any option for gird display for use rule of third images,
is there any idea for how can i find and use it (like canon 7d) ?
thanks for any response.

The 5D MK II does not have the electronic grid display that came out later on the 7D. However, unlike the 7D, you can replace the focus screen with various ones that do have different or even custom grids

Canon does not make a focus screen with a rule of 3rds grid, this is what they have.

Third party companies do take canon focus screens, and add grids to your requirements for a price.

...for the viewfinder. That's because the 5DII has a 'normal' focusing screen, whereas the 7D has a transmissive LCD overlay on the focusing screen (that transmissive LCD displays the grid lines, the electronic level, etc.) in the viewfinder.

But, you can get rule-of-thirds gridlines on the 5DII in Live View mode, by going to the second settings menu > Live View/Movie func. set. > Grid display. Grid 1 is rule-of-thirds, Grid 2 has more lines.
