I've already set up Custom Function and used "P" mode but now want to change it without loosing all my settings. Can anyone help?

Help with what? I don't ever use P mode, I use Manual and Aperture modes. Most of the settings stay the same as you switch between modes but you will have to set some things with the different modes.
