The inside of the memory card slot cover of the EOS 5D Mark III has a small label. The label itself has the lower left corner cut off. When not using my reading glasses if mistakenly thought of this to indicate the orientation of the SD memory card, but I was wrong. Instead, printed on the actual label is the orientation of the SD card correctly in the upper left corner. Why this confusion?

They had to "cut" one corner of the label off to make sure whoever assembles the card door doesn't stick the label on there upside down.
  • Top right: SD card arrow
  • Bottom right: not enough space
  • Bottom left: CF card image
  • Top left: The one corner that is left

They could have designed it differently but this is just another little detail Canon didn't care about.

Hijacking this thread:
  • Why can't I select an item in the Q menu by pushing on the joystick which works in the normal menu?
  • Why can't I use the joystick to navigate the Custom Controls screen when accessed from the Q menu when I could use it a second ago to navigate the Q menu? The joystick works in the Custom Controls screen when accessed from the normal menu.
  • Why can't I disable select Info screens in playback mode?
  • I'm to lazy to list more of these (minor) annoyances.

Granted, these are little details but the 5D3 is one if Canon's top cameras. They could've cared more about these things.

Use the Info button.

Are you referring to "Why can't I disable select Info screens in playback mode"?

While in playback mode I want to disable the second histogram screen and the full screen image with basic data. I'd like the info button to toggle between large photo and small photo with information and a single histogram.

This is possible for the info screens in shooting mode (menu "SET UP3", "INFO. button display options").
As I've said, this is just a minor issue but I would've been nice to save 50% of my INFO. button pushing.
