I am going to Europe in early April and really want the 5D Mark III for that trip... have an order at Amazon for the Body only but sorely tempted to go ahead and order a kit if it means I will have it in time for the trip... would still prefer to order through Amazon because of various discounts... but each new place that has it available with no word from Amazon about when it might be shipped tempts me more.
As far as the google B&H ad... I see it too when searching for 5D Mark III:
"The Kits Start Shipping Today 3/20! Order Now, $3499 Charged Upon Ship"
just called abesofmain and the guy over the phone seems to claim that its 2-3 days shipping from when they get stock but not sure when that is and how many
i placed a pre order earlier in the week, yesterday order status was "processing" today when i checked it showed "sent to warehouse" I see they are open until 8:00 i really hope they ship today to have it show up by friday, regretting not upgrading to overnight. Im assuming sent to warehouse means they have stock, unless it means order sent and they will fill and ship tomorrow when they get them in....
My shipping method is 2-3 days, would hate to sit the whole weekend waiting. As long as its ground from ups i know since I'm in new york i will get it friday. But all depends on how they ship.
I emailed Abes today, while i have seen the order status online and most vendors seem to be getting al little jammed up im a little concerned with the outcome.
I have read mixed reviews about abes, i think most falls on an unperfected order status, i saw some rough critics about orders staying in my current status for days "sent to warehouse", especially on pre order or new hot items.
Ill keep positive and keep you posted. I have used them and have friends that have used them, always with good experiences. I use them mostly because I can save the tax and if I use ups the item shows up in a day or two.
I think im all caught up in the craze, i can get it locally, they have it in stock at two places locally, only a few minutes away.
They charged my card and status still says "sent to warehouse" for two days, i have not received a response to me email.... hopefully it will ship soon.
