60D on the way out?

To me it always seemed that the 60D is the "slower" version of the 7D. Same sensor, nearly the same body size. Some pro features. The extra money for the 7D went to the magnesium body, the weather-proofing, and the faster fps. This is why I went with the 60D a year and a half ago, I'm a landscape shooter and I don't care a lick about the fps. (but the extra weatherproofing and magnesium body would have been nice, but not $600 nice) A lot of the reviews I read put the IQ of both nearly equal (with some even giving the edge to the 60D in IQ). This leads me to believe that the 2 (potentially) upcoming cameras will have roughly the same relationship.

$500-$700 more.

it would be better if 70D would have features like the old XXD line...the 60D is really unuseful today; more or less the same features of XXXD line

what features. afma yes, but I'm drawing a blank on what else is missing.

Magnesium alloy body, joystick control, faster fps. I'm surprised they actually lowered the fps.

I've probably said this before but I went from an XS to a 60D so I didn't miss the better build quality. I have heard that the photos are less grainy, but I don't know if that is only for jpg or if it also applies to Raw. If it does apply to both... then I'm happier with better image quality even if it is at the expense of one shot per second.

When I finally upgrade to the 5d mkiii... I guess I will be able to tell whether or not it is something I would have wanted this whole time.

You know, it's true. I bought a 60D over 2 years ago and it's just sitting around collecting dust now that it's become "unuseful". It used to take great pictures and fulfill ALL of my needs but now, it's pretty much just a piece of crap - barely useful as a paperweight. It's weird too - my needs haven't changed, but somehow the camera has. Odd...

I think I'll just throw it away. I wouldn't want to burden someone else with such a "unuseful" piece of junk. DAMN YOU CANON!

On a serious note - you'd think photographers (who are MOSTLY a reasonably intelligent group of folks) would understand that NO camera is designed to be EVERYTHING to EVERY PERSON. But somehow this goes over the head of most...

I was a firm believer that the 70D was going to have the same (slightly modified) sensor we've come to love and hate, and that the new sensor process would be released in the 7Dll. There has been a good deal of "same old thing" in the press, and TONS of it in the forums, and I suspect Canon may have decided to include the new sensor tech in the 70D. It would explain the seemingly endless wait since the 60D price drop last Christmas. Not to mention that the T4i/T5i are arguably better cameras.
