Hello,

I am having a hard time making a decision whether or not I should wait for the 650D or just buy the 600D now, especially since today's announcement.

I'm interested in the camera because of the video features.

600D

- Still one of the best video DLRS
- I can go buy it right now, install ML and start filming.
- It is a bargain for 600€/$680 with the 18-55 IS

- It is a bit dated

650D

- Digic 5
- New sensor
- New video features (whatever that could be)
- (Touchscreen and autofocus for video is really not important to me)

- More expensive
- I might have to wait several months

Say they announce it the 1st of June, when do you think it will hit the shelves in Europe? Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the 5Dm3 arrive pretty quickly after it was announced?

I would really like to hear what you guys think. Wait or buy?

Cheers

I would suggest getting the 550D instead of the 600D if you decide to buy now. They're still floating around and they have almost identicle features for less (as long as you're not set on the flippy screen). 479.99 If you get it from the canon refurb store, which I would definately recommend. It's a great camera and if it's your first you will love it. I think the less you spend the first time around, the better, because if you really take to it, you'll be itching for something bigger and better in no time. Don't bother with the kit lens. Get the body only and a 50 f/1.8, or possible a 35 f/2(I love this lense on a T2i).

However, I would wait for the T4i anouncement to see if there's anything groundbreaking going on there first.

Thank you for your replies

I do find the articulating screen worth the extra money. Until I can get a monitor but I would rather buy some lenses and a rig first.

As far as I know there is no Loyalty Program in EU and there is also no Refurb Store. So 680€ is what I would end up paying.

I will definitely get a 50/1.8 or perhaps even the 50/1.4 since I heard very good things about it when it comes to video.

But I do find that even though the kit zoom isn't a great lens it is worth the extra 77$.
